Watch Robbie's Soccer Aid Appeal Film From Mexico
On his recent visit to Mexico, in aid of UNICEF, Robbie got to know the children in the slums of Mexico City and witnessed the dangers they face first hand. Originally shown during Soccer Aid on ITV1, this film gives a short account of Robbie’s dramatic experience.
Soon to have a child of his own, the stark comparison between what kids face growing up back at home and what kids face growing up in Mexico hit Robbie hard. Admitting that children at home are very lucky, Robbie brought to light that the same cannot be said for the children of Mexico City, who face the fatal dangers of poor sanitation, abuse and disease every day.
Watch as Robbie cradles newly born baby Dominique, whose mother lives in fear that disease-ridden rats may bite her children as they sleep.
The prospects for older children seem to be no better; Robbie met children Lluvia, 3, and Angel, 5, who are at risk each day of being snatched by criminal gangs whilst their parents work.
This year Soccer Aid has raised a whopping amount of over £4m, which goes towards providing much needed shelters equipped with water and toilets and keeping children safe from danger and abuse.
Without public donations this wouldn’t have been possible, so again, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Soccer Aid!

Думаю ему и не надо пиариться, т.к. его имя известно многим. А данный репортаж иногда бывает полезен. Он напоминает нам, что рядом с нами живёт много людей, которым просто необходима помощь и эта помощь как раз и может прийти, если данный репортаж увидит большое количество разных людей! Некоторые люди готовы помогать, но не знают как. Вот вам и ответ! Думаю правительствам стран, в которых бедность достигает таких масштабов, должно быть стыдно за то, что приходится привлекать медийные личности и разные благотворительные организации в борьбе с бедностью! Вообщем, тут есть над чем подумать и поработать! А Робу спасибо, что он этим занимается и привлекает внимание к данной проблеме!
I do not agree with you Jools68...Suppose you where the lady in that poor place and the baby !!! Having their photos splashed in the mass media !!! And the privacy of their humble home invaded by cameras !!! I do not agree with you at all! I believe people can help people without degrading the less fortunate ones..
Any celebrity can became an UN ambassador !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just pay attention to this ... Some celebrities use this "title" to raise their public profile also in order to sale more music and merchandise and to make their business Enterprise more profitable.
As a Unicef ambassador it is right that you use your celebrity to highlight the plight of kids who need people like us to help them out where we can. I believe in Moses, I believe in gentleness of the heart. I believe in being as humble as possible when helping others. I hope cameras will not exist, for people like Robert to show off to it !!! The poor is already without nothing and please, people should not try to take their dignity...by entering their house and invading their privacy of their own tend and is very sad.
In this photo above he holds this very poor child in Mexico...he entered the house of the poor and all with the cameras rolling...please, think of this people in this site.My Latin people are my blood and I wish him not to use them for publicity and marketing and sell CD's like he did with an vulnerable person like me in the past.Please, take your inspiration somewhere else and please do not use my beautiful Latin children of Mexico for publicity stunt !!!!!
I wrote nice comments before to try to forgive him and see the good side of things... in the past he truly used my fragility on that moment to write music and to make money for his music business.He is a entrepreneurial by heart.But he's a cold man and very cruel and immature to a point in seeking revenge on me it was a goal in his life. He did and the mission is accomplished. Well done Robert and one day I may forgive you I do not know.I have closure now because I wrote my story and is all true. ...Robert entered the very poor tend of a Mexican family...and cameras where rolling and he's smile seems to be less than charismatic and I could see him only focusing in the camera and how to perform to be a good person.
