I have been thinking for a while now that maybe it could be possible to make a fund raiser possibly by means of music to help our hero’s to get the gear and equipment that they need to have a safer chance in Afghanistan.
As an ex serving soldier myself, thankfully, I have never had the chance or the opportunity to go out to Iraq or Afghanistan, so thankfully I do not have the memories of the sights that our soldiers seen or have the nightmares that they suffer from. But, I do have friends that are out there and I am constantly watching the news and my biggest fear is one of them being mentioned as killed in action, also I have a friend at the moment who is in Selybridge hospital in Birmingham that was blown up by an I.E.D (Improved Explosive Device) at the road side in Helmand Province, His Name is Pete McCombe, he has lost the vision in one eye and is fighting to save his other as well as having masses of shrapnel removed from his head. Unfortunately you never hear of this on the news only the soldiers that are killed in action so no one really knows of the full extent that our soldiers go through, never mind their families suffering too.
It was a post that a friend of mine put on his Facebook profile that made me think even more about this and I think now it is even more paramount than ever to make sure that we, as a nation can help our soldier more and more to reduce the casualties and hopefully the pain that our soldiers and their families endure.
I Think it is fantastic how our nation has come together to help the Haiti appeal and it set me wondering about doing the same for our Soldiers.
I am writing this as I have no clue or idea on how this could possibly be set up as I would love to see a song made and put on to cd or download and all proceeds going to buying equipment for our soldiers to make it safer as they are under geared as it is and I would imagine that every little, no matter how minor it is, would help. Also it would be good if the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc etc could make a documentary of this being made from start to finish to actually make people aware that there are more injured soldiers coming home everyday that they do not know about as it is mainly the deaths that are aired on tv.
Thank you in your time on reading this :D:D:D
