I think I'll have to get used to it to like it. It's not bad and I love the chorus. I don't really like this repetitive staccato at the beginning of the verses. And I absolutely can't connect to the lyrics.

Well Im hearing for the second time around Bodies. Im totally just amazed by just how excellent this song is. I did see a video of Rob playing the exact song but it didnt seem finished yet. And the video. O My god. Theres no singer that even comes close to Robbie. Its amazing the airplay Robbies songs gets. I think. yep A THIRD TIME HEARING THIS SONG I CANT GET ENOUGH. sorry i was interrupted by the urge to hear robbies new song for the third time which will be millions before long. I see Darren Hayes is hailing Robbie for the song and its magnitude. Its a shame that America knows nothing about this guy. Talk about an insult that America plays teen pop junk instead of Robbie. But like i heard, Robbie hasnt really put in the work that it takes, to take on America. But thank goodness that Robbie IS releasing it stateside. I think Escapology was the last album Robbie released in the States. Remember seeing Rob sing Come Undone on the Carson Daly show. Well everyone enjoy Robs new song. Just take in Robbie and his music cos he will be around for a couple years. Im gonna follow Rob on this album more than ever than all of his last ones.

hey don't say that. there are songs with more morbid lyrics. i mean look at those heavy metal songs, they're all in that mood. come on, it's robbie, we all love him and his music and his songs. that's what counts, not just one line of one great song! actually the line "kiss me with your mouth/teach me with your brain" is the most hilarious i've heard in my whole life, but that didn't stop me from loving a place to crash! in fact, i think that song is just brilliant! hey one doesn't have to love and adore everything, but don't say you won't buy the record just because of one line. it reminded me of some fans of depeche mode from some arabic country who signed some kind of petition not to go to a concert in their country if depeche mode come there since it was first cancelled. but when the concert was rescheduled they all went of course. you see, you can say you won't go in a moment of anger, but at the end you still go, 'cause you love their music, that's your passion. do you get what i mean?

It`s more upbeat than when Rob first showed it a while back when he was with his Dad writing it at home.I still am not sure though,as I have said before it`s clever in that it is very wordy technically on the ball but I just do not think it`s my Robbie fave type of song,it`s a bit creepy and haunting until you get used to it maybe,I just hope there are some more upbeat and not so clever pop songs on his album,judging by the Titles I think from what RW said Trevor Horn has got rid of all my fave type of songs,maybe not,it seems my fave was a joke song and does not even exist prop somebody said on here."I Want Explosions".It is deffo a grower Bodies.

I think the "Jesus didn't die for you" is a refletion, like most of the verses in the song, because in the begging he says the opposite thing (jesus really died for me). I think this song is about things you think, things cross your mind things that don´t necessarily match altogether.
"Got to feel rejection from my reflection" sum it all for me, doubts that cross our minds sometimes, thoughts of "vanity" (all we ever wanted is to look good naked) and "solitude" (bodies in the cemitery).

Most important, I think the whole meaning of the song is like a presentation, an explanation why "reality killed the video star". I think Robbie wants to show that his old self/style is dead and everybody should pay attention to the new Robbie. I think one of the reasons why bodies was the first single is that it fits the album title. Bodies is explained by the album title.

My opinion, though. What yours? What do you think it's the song's meaning.

i may like it when i listen to it more often, but my first impression wasn`t really "WOW"....

Theres something about Bodies that i like, some bits every there and here but some that just simply doesnt work...The different parts in the song doesnt mix that well with each other and it feels like they tried to put eveyrthing to it just to make it BIG! Too much trying! Not from the soul and heart! Like Robs songs used to be for me...... This is manufactured hit song for popcharts and radioplay! And that in a bad way...


i like the beginning , the groove and beat and the strophes/verses, they are really great: the "What a day, what a day" .......and the 'Jesus died for you, Jesus really tried for you' ....i had that on my mind all day , you can sing along to that very good.

but i am not liking the rest/ the chorus and bridge so much.....because of the reasons above.......... bit too much sounds,effects , too much electro/ computer music etc...so it sometimes nearly sounds like noise, and for me it is a bit sad that you don`t hear Rob singing good so much , it is too much that "Rappish singing style".....and too much sound effects on the voice.....all in all a bit overloaded......

It's okay, it's a grower but I guess it could have been so much better.:eek:

Sounds like a mixture of Alphavilles "Big in Japan" at the beginning and ends like a Nightwish song. I would have prefered the Nightwish sound, as I love the big orchestra. The violins are beautiful, loving the choir as well. Could do without the electro stuff.
I guess they tried to please two parties with it: Dancefloor AND classic Rob fans. And it doesn't really work because it's now neither classic nor dancefloor. You cannot split into two halves... in the end it seems to be half-arsed. It's okay and might do well because everyone waits for it but it's lightyears away from a first single like "Feel".

I really hope he didn't lose his inspiration while he was hiking for ET or chatting on ATS. He once said "God is talking through him" when he sings and writes lyrics. Can't help it, but I don't see much "spirit" in his stuff. I found "Lola" quite uninspired and "Bodies" doesn't sound very "spiritual" as well.:eek:

I can honestly say that bodies is a brilliant song. It is important to note that some 'classical' Robbie Williams fans won't like this - just in the same way they wouldn't have liked Radio,Tripping or any of Rudebox etc etc... They cannot comprehend the concept of music evolving.

I get the feeling this will be the record Rudebox was intended to be; an amalgamation of all the eclectic Robbie Williams sounds.

I take it as his meaning when he looks at himself in the mirror (or he could mean mentally not physically) that he doesn't like what he sees and he doesn't want to feel like that anymore. He wants to see "perfection".

I actually expect the songs to be about him - he's always been an honest guy and he's always been able to express his feelings in a way only few men are able to. That's one of the reasons I'm a fan. i may like it when i listen to it more often, but my first impression wasn`t really "WOW"....

Theres something about Bodies that i like, some bits every there and here but some that just simply doesnt work...The different parts in the song doesnt mix that well with each other and it feels like they tried to put eveyrthing to it just to make it BIG! Too much trying! Not from the soul and heart! Like Robs songs used to be for me...... This is manufactured hit song for popcharts and radioplay! And that in a bad way...


i like the beginning , the groove and beat and the strophes/verses, they are really great: the "What a day, what a day" .......and the 'Jesus died for you, Jesus really tried for you' ....i had that on my mind all day , you can sing along to that very good.

but i am not liking the rest/ the chorus and bridge so much.....because of the reasons above.......... bit too much sounds,effects , too much electro/ computer music etc...so it sometimes nearly sounds like noise, and for me it is a bit sad that you don`t hear Rob singing good so much , it is too much that "Rappish singing style".....and too much sound effects on the voice.....all in all a bit overloaded......

I wanted to love this song so much that when I first heard it I thought it was an instant hit but the more I've listened to it I find myself going off it which is bad news but I just can't help it. I've been trying to work out why.

It is catchy, there's no doubt of that especially the chorus and I love the strings but I have a real problem with the lyrics. What is this song all about? The verses and the chorus seem to bear no relation to each other and for me there is far too much repetition and no proper structure. Lyrics are very important to me and usually Robbie's greatest strength but this song is weak lyrically. It goes nowhere.

I'm not looking for a message as such. Not all songs have to be deep and meaningful. Take Rock DJ for example or Supreme - both with pretty lightweight lyrics, even silly in places but still great pop songs. I think it's repetition that irritates me in Bodies and the lack of structure.

But I agree the chorus is classic cheeky Robbie- but how does that relate to the rest of the song? Sorry, it just doesn't work for me but I'm delighted for Rob that it seems to be going down well with most fans and the critics. What I think doesn't really matter and I'll still be buying it, if only for the video which I have high hopes for!
