Yes the song is brilliant. Already whirling around in my head. Congratulations and its so nice having you back. I really hope you enjoy the process this time :).
I'm from ksa but i heared radio 1 on internet :D bodies is awesome i love it x
it is not necessarily a winner here in the UK. There was an article online, which was taken down, I think it was on the Virgin site that said Bodies has Robbie fans divided in the UK and I do think that is the genuine reflection about it too.

Seems right. There seems to be a split between what Robbie likes and what the "old" fans like.
I'm a quite new fan (2004), I came in at the time Radio was released, so I'm cool with the electro stuff, but if you want Angels you will be dissapointed. I think Robbie has just come to terms with that and is doing what he likes and hopes as many fans as possible will come on board.
A bit of both. I loved it the first time I heard it, but with more listens, I love it even more. :p
Though, loving it the "first" time I heard it (the Radio 1 premiere) might have something to do with having listened to the demo a lot in the past couple of years and it growing during that time. Though I think the demo was quite instant too, hmm...

I love this song. To me, the lyrics are quite spiritual in the sense that the body dies but the spirit lives on but thats my opinion and I'm sure there will be loads of theories to be debated :D

well..no flying chairs around me ..nor exploding light bulbs..also the clock didnt show mysterious numbers to me..ok when i´ve listened the first time i didnt look at a clock...maybe thats the reason i´ve missed the Kundalini experience :D ..but..hey! i felt really good while listening bodies..blood pressure raised and i felt like i have to dance..oh..and i even thought " how could i live without listening music for so long?" :rolleyes: maybe that´s a Kundalini experience?;) I´ve got another interpretation for the lyrics. And i had got a whole day the christian problem..then ive decided to hear "jesus really died for you" in the last chorussuse..chorussi..lol..plural for chorus? nevermind ...now i dont see a "god attack" init and am able to enjoy: Robbie is back. makes me feeling like this:

it is a catchy song for me in regards to the part/ words: what a day, what a day...jesus really died for me.......i have these in my head since friday morning all the time, and i am humming that all the time but that `s it ...i guess it won`t be a milestone.i am curious about the other songs on the album;)

I think it's unnatural to expect every single fan to "love" it. There are lots of Robbie songs I don't like. Personally I like this one but I don't think anyone should beat themselves up just because they don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread :) Other singles will follow.
I would always buy a Rob single as a show of support to the artist even if I didn't like it, but I could understand if others felt differently. Is it right to buy a song regardless of whether you like it or not? :confused:

It is right as long as YOU deem it right and as long it is your money that you spend on it, for which reason ever.
But I admit, that I personally would not spend any money on something, that I even actually don't like, also not for Mr. Williams, I'm afraid :p
But keep it along the lines of "chacun à son gôut" :)

Ohhhh i love Angels, its my fave song of all songs of the world, but im not wanting another Angels ;) I like any new different song that will come from Rob, since the most romantic and light till the more danceable and strong :) Im always ready for any new stuff, thats it ;)

I wanted to love this song so much that when I first heard it I thought it was an instant hit but the more I've listened to it I find myself going off it which is bad news but I just can't help it. I've been trying to work out why.
It is catchy, there's no doubt of that especially the chorus and I love the strings but I have a real problem with the lyrics. What is this song all about? The verses and the chorus seem to bear no relation to each other and for me there is far too much repetition and no proper structure. Lyrics are very important to me and usually Robbie's greatest strength but this song is weak lyrically. It goes nowhere.
Also I miss hearing him actually SING properly. This song doesn't do his voice justice at all.
So after an initial burst of enthusiasm I'm a bit disappointed. So not an instant or a grower for me - in fact the opposite of a grower!
I sort of know how you feel - I love the song if I don't listen to the lyrics. Or if I listen to them and choose to ignore them. Or my interpretation of what he's saying, anyway...
ATS and David Icke have a lot to answer for. IMHO, of course.

Good Point! I hate it when people say bad things about Robbie, he's done absolutely nothing wrong, and if him sharing his talent with people who adore him is wrong then why's he such a massive star?? :mad:

Sadly the hate is a feeling that loves to feed itself, getting bigger and bigger :( It seems that ppl who hate somebody get obssessed in thinking on that person and talking about that person, so the hate keeps growing like a snow ball :mad:

My first impression was that he was different! with Rob when he delivers new materal you never know what your gonna hear when your hear the very first single and this time was no different. It took me the second listen to start getting in to the groove of it and to learn and undersand the lyrics. Now I'm absoutly loving it, the way it's put together and thought that gone to everything bodies do it genuis my favourite line at the moment is bodies making chemistry ;)
The chorus is a real gem and I love the 3 bass line beats:cool: I'm just hoping praying now that we start seeing that it's being recieved well that on radio etc, so we can get a good of what everyone else thinks about it.
Here's hoping for another number smash eh boys and girls!;):D:cool:

Oh yeah i noticed those Hate/Love words that i put in the same phrase, and u cant believe but the 1st time i was reading wot i was writing i realised how weird it could be so i should change it for example "Hate wants" or "Hate needs to" :D
But then i thought twice and i know Hate and Love r two faces of the same coin, so i kept my words
And i can talk about this cos i knew a person who sadly had so much hate in their heart and they was always thinking and talking about the person they hated :( It was a weird feeling, kinda mixture of hate and love :eek:

Fred Falke did remixes for the likes of Jamiroquai, Kelis and Goldfrapp.
Fred Falke also works with Xenomania and appeared on the Pet Shop Boys "Yes" album. I really like his remixes.

Somehow I'm not surprised that there's no b-side song, just remixes. :(
I had hoped that if he had 40 songs or so that he liked for the album initially, I am sure they recorded more tracts than just the ones coming up on the album and they may have thrown a few on the B-side

Take That put original b-side songs on their singles, I’m sure it makes people more inclined to actually buy their singles, it’s a shame Robbie often just wastes opportunities for fans to hear something new by just filling them with remixes which he’s probably had no or little input in himself. :(

OMG just saw the bodies video. kicks major ass. i love the symbolism of him walking in the desert as to compare to him making his comeback. i wonder if that woman in the video was ayda field. looks like her. i can tell the video was really personal. i was very glad to have seen the video. the best i have seen for years. now. i just checked itunes and robbies reality killed the radio star was on there. can you believe for 7.99 usd. i can tell when a big time musician album, selling at 8 dollars a pop, they dont know much about the guy or isnt familiar to his music and his popularity across the pond. but im glad that his album is on itunes. but the video, top notch.

Video is nice but is similar to feel and millennium...a mix.
The minute with Ayda is the one i prefer.

Hmmm where do I start? I've watched it several times now. He's going to want a balanced view isn't he?
First off:-
- Beautiful guy, beautiful girl with incredible eyes
- I like the colour palette
- I like the hard structures of the landscapes and the private plane graveyard
- The symbolism of the wilderness, running out of petrol, being rescued by his lady and ending
up in a globetrotters graveyard may not be subtle but it is effective
- The props used are cool and definitely lend a Steve McQueen vibe to the overall feel.
But, my main sticking point with the song "Bodies" has always been the lack of cohesion between the verses and the chorus. Whilst the overall production shine given by Trevor Horn went some way to alleviate that, the breaks in the narrative of the video actually put division in where none existed before, so for me the song sounds even more disjointed when I'm watching the video.
The vast majority of the video is not lip synced, so there is a distance between the video and the song which, for me, emphasises the disjointedness.
The split screen effect has been used so many times now that it seems a bit jaded. And the shots within the split screen are only alternative views and do nothing to carry the narrative forward.
The lack of surprises, either in special effects, timing techniques, unusual camera angles etc means that the video has no hook. The narrative starts at the start and finishes at the end. Which is a shame because it all looks so great that I really want bits of it to stick in my head.
If I wanted to watch a desert / girl / boy / fire / cars / headlights video I would choose Spike Jonze's video for Kanye's "Flashing Lights" every time. Compared to the utter jaw-dropping magnificence that was the "She's Madonna" video this one is disappointing and more than a little flat.

This is a brave move considering the negative opinion of her I know many fans hold. Personally I think it is a lovely touch - far better to use someone you are truly in love with , no need to act! And they are obviously crazy about each other which is a beautiful thing to see. Makes me go all mushy! Are we seeing the new Linda McCartney I wonder? If Ayda is by Rob's side and her presence helps him to do what he does it's fine by me. But I guess many will consider her more of a Heather Mills than a Linda!!
And so to the end of the video which for me is the highlight. The sequence on the wing is classic Robbie, the moves, the looks, the delivery of the lyrics. Well, I must say that I liked the video. The whole atmosphere of the song goes fantastic with the video. I like his tan btw...it goes with the whole scenery :-). The girl...well...I must say I`m sooo jealous at her (there, I said it), but they look sooo nice together (I said this only 1 time and no more :-) ). Anyway the best part of the video for me is when Rob is standing on the wing of a plain, the outfit...mmmm...look at his shoes...it really looks great, he looks soooo fit, and gorgeous. The dancing...moving....just perfect...makes me wish to get inside the video and hug him :-).
Love you Rob, I missed you soooooooo soooooooooooo much!

You said everything that I was going to say, it's like your in my head!:D it's slow of me but until I read peolpes posts I did'nt realise that the first sence was to symbolize Rob coming back. I was too caught up in his rugged look:p I just knew him getting on and riding that bike would mean a weelie or two having to be done :cool:.
Next sence with Ayda knew staight off it was her and thought how romantic it was , to have her in the video instead off some actress that he does'nt love or care for. I'm not gonna lie though to see them being all lovey dovey together did feel a little uncomfortable for me I think it's becasue the emotion bweteen is so strong and real, that I kind of felt like I was intruding on them some how. :o
The last sence is probably my favourite as it's Rob doing it's 'thing' I loved the free ness of it all the expresstions ,brushing the shoulder, crouching down to the camera, arms out etc.. non Rob loves are bound to critzie Rob for him being cocky:rolleyes:
So theres my two pence, after seeing it, it makes me wonder why Rob called it a grower.

I knew using Ayda was going to be a brave move. Could alienate a lot of fans who aren't big softies like me! Just hope it doesn't get abusive - faint hope probably. This post is on the cusp .......;)

Exactly, at the end of the day it's Rob's video and Ayda is his girlfriend if he wants her in the video his going to hav her in it! He would of known that it would'nt go down very well with some fans but his not, not gonna do it is he?

I was encouraged to see that most comments about Ayda are positive, I was expecting many more negative comments sadly, but have been pleasantly surprised (mostly!) I hope it stays that way and doesn't turn into a complete *****-fest as I totally believe that would not reflect the true thoughts and opinions of the majority of fans.
I think that my opinion of the video is very much like most of the previous comments, fave bit by far is the ending when he's on the wing of the plane, classic Robbie moves there that I'm very pleased to see making a comeback!! I think the video as a whole is brilliant and can understand what some are saying about the sybolism, altho I didn't look at it in that respect when I watched it, I just enjoyed watching it/him and didn't think that deep!!
All in all, a gr8 video for a gr8 song and I hope it receives a good reception from people when more widely released.

in reality, u can't please everybody but i am so pleased with this great music video...i like every minute of it....nice to see the aerial view of the those amazing gorges...then the gorgeous looking Mr.RPW ...wow! im still on cloud 9...:) it's lucky 9 day after all...09.09.09 but the part where i can't help but to scream like a daft....( yeah i can scream coz i live alone i won't disturbed anyone.) I posted my thoughts on the video on Robbie Williams Obsessed forum earlier today, but wanted to share them here too. Rather than try and remember what I wrote I've copied what I wrote -
The video starts with Robbie looking very scruffy, unshaven and unkempt - could this represent the times in his life when he has lost his way and his focus and had low self-esteem? He is walking purposefully, with a gritty determination in his eyes and across his mouth, determined to find his way to a happier and more fulfilled life.
He chances upon the old wooden make shift shack with the motorbike in it - the motorbike will give him the speed and freedom to search for what is missing from his life. This thought inspires him to take stock, and him bothering to shave represents his renewed optimism, and the realisation that he needs to look good in order to enhance his life dawns on him. Whilst shaving the camera zooms into the 1023 on his wrist, (Jonny) and the thought of somebody who cares deeply and genuinely for him gives him further strength to believe that life is worth living and love is out there for the taking.
His smile as he approaches the woman's car is one of calm acceptance and acknowledgement that the years he has waited to find the right person have finally paid off.
We then see a truly in-love Robbie, revelling in the knowledge that this will last forever.
I think the video is set in the desert to represent millions of years of evolution, showing the elaborate rock formations, but also how stark and unforgiving life can be - the one desolate palm tree being blown about in the desert wind.
Controversially, I do think this song and video are about questioning the bible. The Bhodi tree is linked with Buddhism, and it wouldn't surprise me if Robbie has studied, and partially embraced, this "religion", although it is more a way of life and a mindset, and very spiritual in a way that transcends basic teachings about Jesus dying on a cross to save all those born in the future.

I think the split screen is to emphasise Robbie wanting to seek perfection from his reflection, as the first time it is shown it is whilst he is singing those lines. Multi-reflections, representing how often he has changed throughout his life in terms of what he wants from it.
Another idea I have had is that when Robbie sings about his reflection, he does not necessarily mean in a purely physical sense, but is more about the "whole person" he sees looking back at him.
It is a much more spiritual song than I realised - the video has definitely informed and explained the lyrics.

Thank you Pure Frances. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post too, some very interesting observations there. As you say, the video has many themes running through it and I can't wait to watch it more to unravel what Robbie is trying to say and put across to his audience - although I think he does these things as much for personal satisfaction as to please the public.
As for some fans not liking the video because it has Ayda in it - well, it is their loss if they cannot be happy for someone they profess to care about... it would only be fans who see Robbie as a "piece of meat" to be ogled and swooned over, and not as a real person, who would take such a narrow minded viewpoint.
Anyways, it's all good, Robbie's back at the top of his game, where he belongs. Bring on the album !!!

OK - the way I see it, he's announcing that he's back from the wilderness, and that he is very much with Ayda now. As you must be aware, there are some people who won't accept that he is with Ayda, regardless of the evidence of their own eyes and ears - but this way, it's out there, he's making the statement.
If she keeps popping up in videos then I might be inclined to agree with you re the blurring of the public/private lives - but then as somebody else said, maybe she's Linda McCartney now - maybe she comes as part of the package and he's making that known now.
Or maybe he's so proud of her and of them and what they have that he wants to show it off to the world at every opportunity. In which case, there are going to be a lot of pissed off people in Robbie world - but that's their loss.

Are you saying that in all videos, this one and future ones, that Robbie shouldn't cavort with any women? Because let's face it, if you were Ayda, and were Rob's girlfriend, you wouldn't want him kissing and nuzzling another woman would you?
It might have been better just to have Robbie in the video I agree, to please ALL the fans, those in happy relationships and the single ones who lust after him (and the committed ones who also lust after him LOL), but at the end of the day it's Robbie's choice - and who can blame him for wanting to show her off to the world? She is beautiful, he must be so proud of her. And so what if it leads to other work for her - would you begrudge her that? I can't see it furthering her acting career myself - there is no dialogue and she doesn't do anything a million other actresses could do - apart from look as good as that.

Me too. How he was wearing the blue shirt, covering up the tattoos, could have easily been a stunt man. And when he was in the car the sleeves were rolled up, so it's definitely a possibility.

I wondered about the stuntman thing too (OK I admit I have been watching this video on and off ALL day :o) Not advocating riding without a helmet but it would have looked so much cooler on the vid without that hideous bulbous thing on his head. But I guess the insurers wouldn't allow it and maybe they wouldn't allow the wheelies either! Noticeably a lot of long distance shots in that sequence.
As for Ayda I think it's the most natural thing in the world to use her. As someone already mentioned how horrible would it be for her to see Rob with someone else. And I think there's a lot of letting the fans know 'we're together, we're staying together, like it or lump it!' Still a brave move though.

well i have just watched the video after a long day waiting to get home & i absolutley LOVE IT!!! Rob just gets hotter & hotter as the vid goes on............. the bit with ayda is lovely - they both look so happy & natural together - Rob looks really happy! Rob by Nature said that there are two different versions of lyrics and that there isn't anything official yet. But as there are lyrics in the "Discography" section I think these are official.
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about the lyrics as well, cause I don't really know what to make of them yet ;)

Why does there always have to be some deep rooted meaning to every move he makes. Maybe he just wanted her in the video for the hell of it. I really don't see him trying to prove anything to his fans. Some of his fans really give themselves too much credit and don't give him enough. Could it possibly be that he really likes her and enjoys her company and wants her in his video? Someone was going to have to fill the spot, why not her? This song signifies the otherworldly stuff he is into and she has been by his side for that the whole time. I don't think the video is all that great, but I do love the parts with them together. They genuinely like each other and have each other's backs. it's a beautiful thing.

I love the images in the desert, well i love deserts, i think they r a place plenty of beauty but also of loneliness....maybe a desert its like our souls :)

Oh, forgot to mention the best part: When he swings his leg over the motorcycle to get on it and then sprays dirt at the camera when he takes off. What a great angle that was filmed at! His legs look so long!

hola! me alegra q habras esta platica, para mi bodies es una cancion excelente pero "misteriosa" como vos decis, la verdad todavia no le encuentro un significado concreto ya q las traducciones no son exactas, por lo poco q pude traducir creo q el significado es sobre lo espiritual la vida la muerte como un rechazo a lo material, es dificil d explicar :o
