View Full Version : Bodies - DISCUSSIONS
I haven't looked for any meanings behind the video at all, but I guess I am lazy minded.
I just watched it for what it is, a music video, and loved every second of it.
Brilliant.:D

LOVE the video, the song and that Rob&Ayda look so happy! It's brilliant.:D
Not sure why we should have an opinion about Ayda being the love interest in the video. They would have used an actress anyway, and she is an actress and she is his love interest, normal involvement to my thinking.
I do wonder if she got a fee for doing it though lol..
And very nice together they look too.:D

I wasn't actually wanting to comment, but as a moderator pointing out the fact that there are other threads that are spanish, or dutch etc for people who's first language isn't English, however if you say that you make it so English speaking users can understand then that should be ok.
I have a question ... has anyone figured out the chord's for guitar yet on Bodies? Come on guys its been almost a week. If anyone has any ideas, could you please let me know.
Does anyone have any clue of Robbie's hand at 3:33 of the video?
What's that move means?
I thought it's just like Buddha's hand. what do you guys think?

I must admit the videos a grower, the first time i saw it i wasn't keen. But after a few views i really like it. I am glad he used Ayda in the video it makes sense, she's is an actress and definately has the looks of a video babe, infact shes much better looking.
The song keeps growing and growing on me i am totally hooked. Although i am a bit annoyed that Alexandra Burke is releasing her single on the same day.

Especially at the end when he is on the wing of a plane, and he just throws his arms in the air and sings.

I think it's a great video, somewhere it reminds me of 'Angels'. I think he's sharing a very private piece of his life with the world, bringing Ayda into this vid! He just may have found 'The One'....:)

thats my fave bit of the video - he looks absolutley stunning in that part - his arms outstretched & the wind blowing his air back - id love that pic as my wallpaper on my phone!!! would keep me smiling all day long at work - just that picture!!! just stunning!;)
So that's Ayda? I was wondering, I knew she was with him at the shoot. And I was wondering if she didn't get jealous seeing rob with someone else haha. She looks beautifull!
And I like the video.

You guys are a font of knowledge - thanks Jenny, will have a little gander at that! :D:D
and here's a little bit more, then I'll shut up, promise !!! -
I think the split screen is to emphasise Robbie wanting to seek perfection from his reflection, as the first time it is shown it is whilst he is singing those lines. Multi-reflections, representing how often he has changed throughout his life in terms of what he wants from it.
Another idea I have had is that when Robbie sings about his reflection, he does not necessarily mean in a purely physical sense, but is more about the "whole person" he sees looking back at him.
It is a much more spiritual song than I realised - the video has definitely informed and explained the lyrics.
Hi Kazza, I just wanted to say thank you for your post and for making the video and the song clearer for me to understand as in what some of the lyrcis mean etc. Obviously I know the song has a spritual feel but I am struggling with some of the lines such as UK and entropy,
I feel like its ****in’ me Wanna feed off the energy, Love living like a deity I'm not sure what Rob is trying to say here:confused: Whats a deity? Bodies in the Bodhi tree I did'nt know what a Bodhi tree was before, but from your post I now know it's to do with Buddisham I'm not sure what Rob means by bodies in a Bodhi tree butt do get that bodies making chemistry means making love.:p:D
Praying for the rapture,‘Cause it’s stranger getting strangerAnd everything’s contagious
t’s the modern middle ages Lastly praying for the raptrue Im not sure of and the strange are getting stranger:confused:
I hopes it does'nt seem like I don't 'get' the song I tottally get the gist of what Rob is getting at, it's just that because of his deep song writing it's not an easy one to get your head around.:o

OMG! Again! I have just watched that and even worse than I had thought. NO sense of humour, no light sarcasm, just his look and crotch? Or stealing out of even his own previous videos is the point there? A shoddy clip is his new style? Mainly when the lyrics go: ….. want perfection?
Eventually trapped in the pop-celebrity-stars like Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado. Only on the top, turned blond and same look like others. And what great singers they used to be! I find them all now like losers. Soon they will fall into the history pit. Probably that is what they wanted to.
Simply – I am so disapointed and so sorry more than whoever else. I cant forgive this anymore…...
He is not the exception from the escaping boy-band members like I thought. NO MORE KARAOKE SINGERS! I quit. Forever. I need only originals and really funny and clever guys!!! The worst tragedy is that the putting covers to albums is the hit and cool over last years. I have hated that and wont forgive.
PS: why should I send this just to watch it only? Ridiculous like clapping hands on stage for the audience to do the same!

Fans should do the exact opposite! If all Robbie's fans buy his singles/albums regardless of if they're good or not or whether they like them or not then he's gonna throw out any old rubbish and not care. What difference does it make to him? He's still got the cash rolling in. If he does really tosh music then fans should boycott it so that he gets inspired to write something decent. :D

I think the single and the video is brilliant. can't wait fot it go on sale :)
[COLOR="Purple"]No, I can't think of any significance of the number six Pure Frances. Probably the number was already on the bike *shrugs*......
Yeh, speaking personally I think I am going into a bit too deeply - but it beats doing what I should be doing, which is boring housework !!!!
[COLOR]
Here we go:
Six: The symbolism behind number Six is legend. With Venus as its ruler, Six represents harmony, balance, sincerity, love, and truth. Six naturally reveals solutions for us in a calm, unfolding manner. We invoke the Six when we need delicate diplomacy when dealing with sensitive matters. The spiritual meaning of number Six also deals with enlightenment; specifically "lighting" our path in areas we require spiritual and mental balance. Sixes beckon us to administer compassion and consciously choose forgiveness in a situation.

Hi Rob!
Just want to know, is it Ayda in the video for Bodies?? Love.
'UK in entropy' I take it to mean -- uncertainty of an outcome, so he is not sure what to expect moving back to the UK maybe, like will/would it be a good idea.
How will he be treated back here etc etc (could be wrong but like i said thats my understanding of it.)
As for the number six, I think it is just a number on the bike but if you want to read into it, it could have many meanings for him like:
He entered in The Guinness Book of World Records when he announced his World Tour for 2006, selling 1.6 million tickets in one single day.
He has six ECHO awards.
He appears in the list of the all-time Top 1000 biggest selling albums in the United Kingdom six times.
After leaving Take That, he launched his solo career in 1996 with a cover of "Freedom", it reached number-two in the UK Singles Chart, that was twenty-six places higher than George Michael's original.

A very interesting song, got my interest when it talked about Jesus dying for you/me.
I read through the lyrics, and it seems to be a song that actually tries to put down christian thinking.
There is a lot of hidden meaning in the song.
I don't know if Robbie has any Christians speaking into his life, or has had, and is pushing away from that.
It seems to be a bit New age, and trying to devalue Jesus' death and resurrection.
God gave me the sunshine, - A reference to creation/birth - Garden of Eden ?
Then showed me my lifeline - We all will die one day, consequence of fall of man
I was told it was all mine, - God made Mankind curator of world
Then I got laid on a ley line - new age special psychic or mystical energy. ref
What a day, what a day, - a realisation day ? or day kicked out of Eden
And your Jesus really died for me - Questioning Jesus' work on the cross
Then Jesus really tried for me -
UK and entropy, -
I feel like its ****in' (beeped out) me - he's not happy with what's happening in UK
Wanna feed off the energy, -
Love living like a deity - New age thought
What a day, one day, -
And your Jesus really died for me -
I guess Jesus really tried for me - Is he questioning his upbringing ?
Entropy: One of the ideas involved in the concept of entropy is that nature tends from order to disorder in isolated systems.
The Chorus is a bit perplexing in it's meaning:
Bodies in the Bodhi tree, - Buddhist connotations
Bodies making chemistry - Hedonistic
Bodies on my family, - Unclear
Bodies in the way of me - Gnostic/New Age body is no value,spirit/soul is part of divine
Bodies in the cemetery, - Atheistic or New Age - death of body is the end freedom from body
And that's the way it's gonna be -- statement of his point
All we've ever wanted
Is to look good naked - Hedonistic or reference to Garden of Eden
Hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection
From my reflection, - Does he not like the way he looks or is ?
I want perfection - Buddhist Nirvana ? or maybe simply to be a better man :p
Praying for the rapture, - A ref to 2nd coming of Jesus
'Cause it's stranger getting stranger - Are believers in Jesus strange ?
And everything’s contagious
It's the modern middle ages - References to plagues
All day every day
And if Jesus really died for me
Then Jesus really tried for me - Again questioning relevance of Jesus' death
It then repeats previous choruses
Tags:
Jesus didn't die for you, what do you want? - Now is he making his point ?
(I want perfection) - New age
Jesus didn't die for you, what are you on? - Making fun of christian belief
Oh Lord -
(Jesus really died for you) Ohh - Not sure that this isn't really asking
(Jesus really died for you) - Did Jesus really die for you ?
(Jesus really died for you) Ohhhhhhh -
Hope this stimulates some thought and you really look into this for yourself

Why does there always have to be some deep rooted meaning to every move he makes. Maybe he just wanted her in the video for the hell of it. I really don't see him trying to prove anything to his fans. Some of his fans really give themselves too much credit and don't give him enough. Could it possibly be that he really likes her and enjoys her company and wants her in his video? Someone was going to have to fill the spot, why not her? This song signifies the otherworldly stuff he is into and she has been by his side for that the whole time. I don't think the video is all that great, but I do love the parts with them together. They genuinely like each other and have each other's backs. it's a beautiful thing.
Personally I wasn't referring to proving anything to the fans but to the world as a whole. I always thought that when he got with someone / found "the one" he'd keep the relationship private which to a degree he is but then on the flip side he's advertising it every chance he gets. All that seems odd to me.
Maybe there is no "deeper" meaning to why she's in the video and from the looks of it he does like spending time with her seeing as they seem to be joined at the hip which is all fine and good. I just don't get why mix her in HIS work, HIS job, HIS career. How many of us mix our significant others in our jobs ? none. How many of us take our significant others to work with us ? none of us. I don't know why he does what he does but maybe he's relying way too much on her / on others to get him through whatever it is he's having difficulty with.
With regard to the video, I don't think anyone needed to fill her spot. Don't think there was a need for a "love scene" if that's what one wants to call the scene with Ayda. I don't think there was a need for any of the luvvy duvvy stuff to begin with. I don't see how any of it fit the lyrics in the song.

As for the number 6, seeing as there are 3 6's = 666 the sign of the devil ... I took it to mean the bike being his old life, living fast with all the temptations etc ... then Ayda rides up in a more "stable" vehicle dressed in white, like an angel of sorts to rescue him from THAT life.

He's always done that though. It just used to be with Jonny. From memory, Jonny's presence used to annoy a lot of fans as well. Now that he's in a permanent relationship, it's only natural that his partner would be the one that he relies on to get him through. None of us are in the position he is in, so I'm sure his life looks much easier to us than it is to actually live it. It has obviously been a huge effort for him to come back, maybe it's just more comfortable this way. Baby steps ...

yeah maybe it refers to that. There's so much symbolism in the video, he didn't have to make that lyric literal.
I think he should've just fixed his bike in the video and go on with life :p that, to me, would signify HE was in control of his life not someone else (ie, Ayda picking him up). That's my take on the video.

I totally understand that and I'm sure his life is not simple but I also think he makes it more difficult than it really is.
I dunno, I just think if he wasn't "ready" for a comeback on his own then he shouldn't have done it.
He doesn't need a crutch to help him walk, he needs to be able to stand on his own two feet. I think we give him very little credit sometimes. He's a very sensitive person but he's also a very strong person and he's a grown man, whos been in the business for a LONG time; he knows what to expect. If he's not ready on his own then he should step back. That's my opinion anyways.

yeah he could have just driven off on his bike but maybe he wanted to show his life as it is now - i.e with ayda...... so maybe that is why she picked him up in the video to represent them finding each other along the way........?!! to be honest i didnt even think about the meaning of the video till i read peoples comments about it on here - i just watched it & thought it was really good! but now i have read peoples comments - i do understand what people mean & i have more understanding of what the video story is all about........ :)

Why is having her in the video using her as a crutch? I didn't see her stuck to his side duiring the recent round of radio interviews, so I'm thinking he's quite capable of going out there and doing whatever it is he needs to do.
I think he just likes having her around and makes perfect sense to me for her to play the love interest, and No, he didn't have to have one but it's not as if it's something new.
I think you'll be in the minority if you're saying that he shouldn't be coming back, but then I have a feeling you're used to that:)
yeah thats what i also said before, why wouldnt he have her in his video..why hire a actress when you have a girlfriend who is actress..and for me it does make sense when you feel good together to be in video also together, the lovescene looks more honest and very real now also.
I LOVE the video!!! The scenes with Ayda are beautiful! He's so happy with her! And when he's happy I'm happy!! Can't wait for the album!!! :D

it does make sense to have his own actress girlfriend in his vid rather than hire one! the chemistry is more natural & they is no awkardness & pretending.....i think they look lovely together - she obv makes Rob happy - & if Rob is happy then i am happy too :)
i keep hearing Bodies on the radio & i want more!!!! Cannot wait for the album to come out - apparantly Rob says his first "real" love song is on there...... ;)

Does anybody else have problem playing the video? It stops all the time. I have to go and watch it on Youtube.

I see what you are saying. I found the video very disjointed from the song. In a recent interview he said he wrote the song after spending a lot of time on conspiracy theory websites and seeing a film "The God Who Wasn't There" which is about the theory that Jesus did not exist, thus the line in the song "Jesus didn't die for you". The Bodhi tree refers to Buddha. Ley lines have to do with ancient civilizations/monuments, for example stonehenge. On the other hand, the video reads like another chapter in RW's life, because that's what he does best. Roaming the desert alone, out of gas. Ayda saves him. Now he is whole, doing his stolen dance moves on the wing of a plane, in a suit, looking fit.
He is definitely making a statement putting her in the video. I personally like the glimpse into his personal life because that is what I am interested in pertaining to him. I only jumped on the RW bandwagon about 4 months ago when someone showed me the "Come Undone" video. I was not a fan of his music. I have never liked pop music or been a fan of pop stars, but he was a litte different. Such a hot bad boy. After watching every single You tube video known to man and then reading "Feel", I was hooked on him personally. After listening to him whine any time a camera was in face about being lonely and looking for Mrs. William, I was thrilled when Ayda started showing up. My unadulterated lust turned into a maternal feeling when I realized "Bad Boy" Robbie was gone for good. He is not the same person. He still has some of the neuroses, but he is much more relaxed and I doubt we are going to be seeing him drop his pants ever again. :( Our boy has grown up.
I do understand what you are saying about her. Most artists don't put their girlfriends/wives in their videos. They keep a totally different persona for stage. RW seems to not have the Robbie persona anymore. I think that is why he won't tour. He said on several occasions that his biggest fear was he would walk out on stage and Robbie wouldn't show up. I like the change. I like to see artists try different stuff and not stay in one little niche. Hell, I even liked aspects of Rudebox.

Well Robs life has changed so his image has to change too. By having Ayda in the video with him the media cannot tell the same old stories. His sensitivity and his faith/search for true love were used against him, now they need to look for a new box to put him in. ; )
I'm not sure I got the video and all its meanings, I don' t stress over Ayda being there, for me it's more significant they're both staring at the fire..God and the last shot with Rob looking at the sun... indescribable! I can't wait for the album!

Absolutely, 3 years is a long time to be away in the music industry but he's apprehensive before every release. He always says the same thing when he starts doing promo for an album.
I think he's very easily influenced, where he completely immerses himself in someone and almost takes on their persona. He's done that when he worked with Stephen Duffy, he's doing the same thing now with Trevor Horn and I think to some degree he's doing it with Ayda ... whether that's good or bad who knows but I don't think he should mix his personal life with his professional.

what I'm "used to" is having my own opinion. And NO he shouldn't come back if he can't handle it on his own.
using Ayda to get thru life (NOT in the video) is using her as a crutch but then he's used to doing that, if its not Ayda its someone or something else.
Funny, yes RADIO interviews ... one can't see who's by his side or waiting in the wings. He's not a child, he doesn't need mummy holding his hand and I think to some degree he is relying on Ayda way too much ... either that or he's too concerned with proving to the world how in love he is by having her everywhere.

Robbie did a video. There was a love interest in the video. An actress was needed to play the love interest. Ayda is an actress.....
Can somebody tell me, because I wasn't around at the time - was there this much analysis when Tara and Nicole sang on a couple of his songs?
And when his mum and dad have appeared in videos, was there a problem there?

Is that what you're saying?
And so what if he does need other people, nothing at all wrong with that.
Would you rather he shut himself away?

I think it's patently obvious how much he needs Ayda. He's just being open and honest about it as always. I think it's too late to wish that he would stand on his own two feet. He's leaning on her but isn't that what everyone does in a relationship? If it helps him to share some of the burden with Ayda then good luck to him. Despite being a phenomenally successful popstar he's always needed others to help him along, it's just that this time it's Ayda.
Rob's talking about her in every single interview he's doing so in a way I guess it's obvious that she would be in the video (although I'll admit personally I was surprised) but she contributes something positive to the video so I think it's an inspired idea. :)

quite right berardi, he mentioned he left Ayda at home in bed, but she was listening to his interview.
I think it is lovely that Robbie can be open about his relationship with his fans, and I am one that is very, very pleased he has her in his life. He has someone to share his ups and downs with and someone he can go home to after he has done his day job. Why should Robbie be any different to what many of us have got in our lives.
and I see no issue with Ayda being in the video, infact it strengthens the video. :D

[Hi TMOZ,
You wrote on bodies:
trying to devalue Jesus' death and resurrection.
The song also caught my attention and not necessarily in a negative sense. Although I study theology, I admit that I don't care much about the religious flesh with its iconic veneration of Jesus which will jump straight into defense mode. One of my favorite songs is Christian militia by New Model Army so I agree with the song writer and his statement about the New Dark Ages.
Not that I claim you did that as you made some very accurate observations and gave an open invitation to look into it for ourselves.
IMHO It is about man's struggle, and at the core of the theology of Christianity, the struggle of the man after the flesh (the body) versus the man after the Spirit, the SONS of God (Romans 8 (http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Rom&c=8&v=10&t=KJV#10)).
Both want to attain perfection, a perfect body versus a perfected Spiritual nature, Christian Perfection.
I do not care much about a plastic fantastic body to look good naked fearing rejection from my fellow man, or the opposite sex but as you stated man's original nature was naked without being ashamed (Gen 2:25 (http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Gen&c=2&v=25&t=KJV#25)) but after losing the spiritual connection to God, losing our original natural state, in the language of Christianity "the fall", we experienced the rejection by God.
Due to the acts of Christianity as it became a state religion under the Roman Emperor Constantine, we did not see generally speaking much evidence supporting the claim and promise of Christianity, and therefore we see an ever-growing resistance against that moralistic hypocritical mouth without the acts supporting it in truth.
And regarding the Buddhist connotations, in the Buddhist struggle to attain enlightenment in Dharma as the Buddha became enlightened under the Bodi tree, vigorously following the way of the Buddha, the bodies in the tree, the Buddha never made the claim he would help them. His followers have to do it themselves, escaping karma, the circle of live and dead.
But Christ did make that promise as the restored connection, the first born of a new mankind, for which he was willing to lay of his life, indeed an open invitation to join into that spiritual bond.
Unfortunately we love the created, the body to much.

i was suprised ayda was in the video at first - espec his comeback single - but after watching it -i think its lovely that she is in it - they really do look good together & they look natural. Rob has talked about her in practically every interview so it shows that he must think a lot of her - he hasnt said that he wont talk about her when asked - like so many other celebrities do - i think its good he is being so open talking about her & having her appear in his video.
A lot of people need other people to lean on - whether it be a partner, parent, friend etc - Its really nice to see that Rob has found ayda - brought her back home to the UK & they are building a new life together - this must be new to ayda too - i mean "robs popstar" life - i know she is an american actress but now Rob has his new single & album coming out - ayda is just finding out how popular Rob is around the world - so they may both need to lean on each other in the future - what with Rob doing promo in different countries etc. Im glad Rob has found Ayda i hope she makes him happy for a long long time, cos if Rob is happy - then im happy :)

I think there is a message in the song.
The Bodhi tree, the hint to obtaining nirvana ("Jesus didn't die for you, what do you want...(I want perfection)"
then saying "God save me from...rejection" --- maybe a clue to Robbie's soul wanting acceptance, not finding it in Christianity and then finding some sense of acceptance from Buddhism. ???
I wish he would tell us, then we'd all know. But i think he has in his songs, music....
"Lord, I'm doing all I can...to be a better man" (Better Man)
"I sit and talk to God and he just laughs at my plans, my head speaks I language I don't understand" (Feel).
the song Better Man, written during a broken time in his life, ""I was heartbroken," says Williams of the time in his life that spawned the song. "Nothing to do with relationships, but I was thinking, 'Well, you've got it, son. You've sold eight million albums, made money, you're more famous than anyone would want to be and it's not doing it, is it?'"
Fame and fortune hasn't really brought him triu happiness.....as proven by many before, it will never bring true happiness in life.
......what more evidence along with these lyrics do you need to see that Robbie's soul is searching for some peace.
Even the song "Strong" (one of my favorite) states it clearly......"you think that I'm strong, but you're wrong" and the video shows a mega-pop star loved by the world but often very lonely and unfulfilled in what really matters in life.
Robbie is searching. I hope he finds TRUTH one day and eternal peace for eternity.

In Bodies, Robbie Williams, uses the lyrics "Jesus didn't die to save you, what are you on?" what does Robbie mean by this? Does he not believe in God?
And what is the song actually about? Is it about war? Or aliens? Or what?
Thanks :D

It's in the box above the header with superman, and it's the last one. ;)
He says, when he wrote it George Bush was sending a lot of people to war in the name of Jesus, and being raised catholic the Jesus he he thinks he knows didn't die so that George Bush could send people to die in a needless war.
And the "God save me rejection" bit is about the modern day struggle, people with body dysmorphias, anorexia, bulema, or who are not happy with their own image, have plastic surgery. And he thinks that is how people feel these days.
And the whole song is conspiracy laden.
all these different interpritations are interesting indeed, okay I sense there is a lot of symbolizm in the video messages and I guess we interperate them on our own levels of understanding, Is it that possibly he is asking his audience to question, the veils of illusion? the illusion within the illusion

Jesus said '' you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven''. we are all sinners, we lie, we steal, we kill, we hate, i could go on. When you die, you will stand before God, and give an account of your life. God will punish everyone for their sin. The way that the world thinks is that everyone goes to heaven when they die, This is not true ! God sent Jesus to take the punishment for sinners, but you must REPENT, and ask God to forgive you, and put ALL your trust in Jesus and he will save you. Thats what the cross means, Jesus has done it all. that is why its called the Gospel, which means good news. This is actually real, Jesus was raised from the dead, and is alive now, and is still saving lost sinners. Robbie i implore you to read the bible, seek God with all your heart, soul, mind. This is not religion, this is the TRUTH. Jesus will be a reality in your life. God is real. we are only men. Seek God and HE WILL reveal himself to you.

I suppose these are things a preacher would say in church, so I don't see why they should not be allowed.

As far as I know from Robbies lyrics in his songs and his art I believe Rob already knows this message;)
In my opinion I think Robbies doing his thang in his cheeky out there way n trying to make the public think about his lyrics in this new song and question it for themselves and therefore hopefully more people will welcome God into their life and know him better. In the name of Jesus.

I suppose these are things a preacher would say in church, so I don't see why they should not be allowed.
But I think Rob does know what Jesus died for. Here's an interview where Rob talks about the meaning of the line "Jesus didn't die for you" in Bodies:
http://www.swr3.de/musik/Robbie_20Williams_20im_20Exklusiv-Interview/-/id=47316/did=586906/1agqobp/index.html
It's in the box above the header with superman, and it's the last one. ;)
He says, when he wrote it George Bush was sending a lot of people to war in the name of Jesus, and being raised catholic the Jesus he he thinks he knows didn't die so that George Bush could send people to die in a needless war.
And I think the problem with George Bush is, he doesn't even realise he's a sinner.
wow! got it! thanks for that link ;)
God Bless our lad! such a righteous man...
i totally understand it now.....makes me wanna sing along w/ it more and louder :D

Thanks Tinkerbell for posting this, I've heard the interview snippet before and I also noted his explanation behind my ear. I think it's the only time he explained it and it's pretty important information. I find it unbelieveable that in all those interviews he's been doing lately only one single interviewer has bothered to ask about it. The song makes so much more sense to me now that I know the meaning.

I was raised catholic, and I believe in a God that created us, and love us!
God made us unperfect, so we all make mistakes. If God created us, knowing that we are siners and want to punish us anyway, He doesn't love me, so I don't want to go to heaven.
I believe in God, I believe in love, I believe in forgivingness!!!! God is love and not hate.
You should think in God as a Lover, and not as a hangman!!!
May he bless you and keep you safe! :D

who was jesus?
this is my personal opinion:
jesus was a normal person just like you and me.
what made him special is that he was the last member
of his soulfamily here on earth...the soulfamily is what
most of us call "guides" or "angels"....
together with his twinflame mary magdalene
(and yes, he loved her more than his disciples!)
it was his last incarnation, and the performed
miracles he did....well, i guess some of them
are maybe faked, but what i know is that we can
do so much more than we can imagine...when we`re
self-concious...
he had to die cause he recognized his true calling,
and he spread the words and was authentic!
you can tell the truth, but that`s not the same as
authenticity ;)
i don`t believe in most of the things written in the bible,
too many of the contents are faked in medieval times
by constantine the 1st.
(people should be controlled on part of the church)
But there are gnostic scrypts
who`re unaltered ....i don`t even want to know
the dark secrets of the vatican!
don`t forget, we`re still living in patriarchy...and men are still
dignitaries of the church.
but there will be a time when patriarchy, matriarchy and animism
go hand in hand :)

He gave a totally different meaning of "Jesus didn't die for you" in another recent interview. They are asking, and in usual Robbie fashion, he gives a different answer. Just another thing I love about him.

Yeah, Robbie is pretty chatty about everything else but as soon as anyone asks about music he gets more reserved. I wonder why? If he's ever gonna be taken serious as a musician (which he used to say he wanted) he will have to talk about it and demand respect. He's certainly getting a harder time from reviewers than most other artists, that must mean they also expect something extra from someone like him. They would never let him get away with releasing a cover of Wild Horses and predict it to get to No. 1 all over the world - Robbie would get slaughtered if he were to release any cover. Sorry, this went a bit off topic......

1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love

I actually like these books or movies/documentaries where people are using a scientific approach to the bible and try to find out what really happened from the evidence that is still there. Like criminologists, who study the evidence from a crime scene and use this to explain what really happened. And a lot of what is written in the bible could actually be confirmed by modern day scientists. I even saw a documentary, where they had a scull of which they thought it was Jesus' and the reconstructed his face - which was of course completely different that what we see in the pictures in church (which are mailnly medevial in origin).
I think a lot of the stories in the bible did happen - maybe not exactly as described. But I do believe there was a man named Jesus, who was of concern to the authorities of his time.
What you read in the bible and what you hear in church, or from some fundamental christians is often quite different. For one because the bible leaves a lot of room for interpretation, and also the catholic church does put a lot more emphasis on some things and less on others.
I was raised protestant, and I did get a completely different picture of Jesus. To me Jesus was a revolutionary of his time. Much as Gandhi was in recent history. He was revolutionary, because he did refuse to use violence - and that in a very violent time. He kept company with the outcasts of society - the criminals, the prostitutes, the tax collectors... he didn't care if somebody was rich or poor, he cared for every human being the same way. He got very angry at the people who were trying to sell people God's forgiveness or love, and who generally made a business out of religion. And I've seen a very intriguing documentary about him being a martyre, that showed from bible text, that Jesus knew he would be killed, and he had the possibility to escape but didn't. He possibly even asked Judas to give away his wherabouts so he could be arrested. (This makes a lot of sense, as the bible mentions in several places that Judas was very distraught and upset and didn't have a real use for the money - so why would he have betrayed him then?) Jesus wanted to be killed, so that his religion and his message of love an forgiveness, of tolerance and respect to all human beings would not die witth him. And he succeeded. So even if you don't believe in God or if you don't believe Jesus was the son of God, he did in a way die for us. So we would have a more peaceful world than he had. And we have every reason to admire him for that.
Even if the new teatment was written centuries after his death (I think the oldest part was written 70 years after his death), and even if it was edited several times afterwards, I think there is still some historical truth in it.
Back to the catholic church - for a long time they turned everything around, made war in the name of Jesus (the man/son of God who would turn the other cheek and love his enemies). They sold God's gifts to mankind to make money, they even intimidated people to buy forgiveness and sacred them that they would burn in hell if they didn't. They did exactly the opposite of what Jesus had preached. Until a monk named Martin Luther was so sick of what his own church was doing that he translated the bible, so less educated people could read what the bible really said, and did not have to rely on what the church told them.
But the message the catholic church hast conveyed for so many centuries is still very much alive, and people like George Bus still abuse the name of Jesus to preach hate.
Sorry for this long disgression, I just had to get it off my mind! :D

Are posts like these (#1) allowed?
Hi,
why shouldn't these postings be allowed ? I think everyone's free to have his/her own opinion. It's up to you, to agree with that or to do not. At least it's an opportunity to hear about the opinions of others and sometimes it may be helpful to check if one's own opinion might be the best or the only one, isn't it ?

i think you're absolutely right - everyone can have their say here and if a good debate comes up - great. :D
I agree, by beliving jesus died for you is not truly being in your own power , your giving your power away apart from being a story based on fear, its about anchoring that energy within and taking responsibility of self, I like the lyrics and well said and about time someone was brave enough to say it good on ya thats what i say anyhow (but hey ** these are just my thoughts and feelings) i take full responsibility for what I have just said.

Very well put. The teachings of Jesus, whether he was real or not, cannot be disputed as a very peace loving way to live. also, adding to the Martin Luther comment, citizens were not allowed to have the translated bible and it was punishable by death if the catholic church found anybody with one.
While you guys are bashing George Bush, how do you feel about the nearly 3500 innocent human beings that were massacred by 19 Muslim extremists literally in the name of God? Here's something to watch if you ever get a chance: "102 Minutes That Changed America." It will make you question if there is a God.
There is an agenda, they (the extremists) have made that quite clear. If you choose to ignore it, that is your perogative. Hope your leaders don't. We have seen what happens when maniacs are ignored. We are God's own handiwork. He created us with His own hands. We got messed up, so we had to be recreated in Christ Jesus. We had to be born again so that we could go ahead and do those good works that God had preplanned and predestined for us before Satan tried to ruin us. Just because you and I have had trouble in our lives or just because we have made mistakes does not mean that God's plan has been changed. It is still there. All we have to do is get back on track.

About G. Bush: There's a nice little quote from Peter Ustinov:
War is the terrorism of the rich, terrorism is the war of the poor.
One crime is as horrible and disgusting as the other.
About 1/3 of the world's countries are ruled by dictators or terror regimes, most of them are just as terrible as Saddam Hussein was. So why did G. Bush turn up on his doorstep and ignore the others? Because Saddam had oil, and Bush and his aides are involved in oil companies. Saddam didn't even like Osama Bin Laden and vice versa. He was a nasty piece of work, but he had nothing to do with 9/11. And Bush and his people always knew there were no weapons of mass destruction there. And by bombing innocent people, and torturing people in Guantanamo Bay and in Iraqi prisons, you don't prevent people becoming extremist, but advance it. Hate creates hate.
Poverty and injustice create extremism. If Bush had spend the money he spent on the Iraq war for developmental programmes in third world countries, he would have not only prevented that more people become extremists, but also have acted in a true christian way.
And about Hitler and WWII: There were some documentaries on German TV, just a few weeks ago when one of the conspirators against Hitler had an anniversary. And one of the historians said, Hitler might have been out of the way a lot sooner, had the conspirators had more support from other countries. Churchill refused to help them, wanted to do his own thing. If the conspirators had been successful, WWII would have ended a lot sooner, with less casualties, less damage, and more survivors in the concentration camps.
And to get back to Jesus, he lived in violent times, under a dictator just as terrible as Saddam. He had the power to get an army and fight against him, if he had asked this from his followers. And the authorities expected that he would do this. But he didn't. He said: "Love your enemies, turn the other cheek". He did not only ask others to not use violence, he didn't use it himself. How can anyone use this man/son of God as a justification for war? Or for any other act of violence?

THE DEATH OF EGO
"One must experience death to be re-born"
~ Old Ancient Insight
You cannot live, nor can you be free, until you have died. This has nothing to do with physical death. Rather, it has to do with the experience of "death" of a part of y our mind that is keeping you from remembering who you really are.
What do those words mean? Each of us on this planet has a separate self or an ego that has become self-centered and selfish throughout the many physical lives we’ve spent attached to this planet. This is not how we were prior to the Fall of mankind.
How did it all happen? In the beginning, we were all ONE with our Source. We then entered the physical universe with free will and the ability to create all that our minds could conceive. We were always God-centered and never separated from our Creator because of it.
Millions of years ago our spirits discovered planet Earth and the 3-dimensional ways of life She had to offer. It was a magnificent place, a Garden of Eden. In order to experience the wonders of this planet, we had to lower the vibrations of our Light bodies to that of 3-dimensional reality. We knew that this denser form of existence was full of risk, but that did not stop us.
We were faced with two choices. We could appreciate and enjoy Earth, but not get attached to the offerings of her physical world. Or we could loose our oneness with God and separate from our Source by losing ourselves in Earth's material pleasures. Sadly, we made the lesser choice, lost our God-centeredness and eventually forgot who we really are.
If we want to be free spirits again, as we once were, we’ll have to wake up and remember our true spiritual nature and divine connection. We’ve accumulated a lot of negative karma while going through the many reincarnational, life-death cycles since the Fall. In order to balance this karma, all will have to be healed in love and forgiveness.
Ego's function was, and still is, a useful safety mechanism to protect us in a 3-dimensional environment. For example, the quick response we have when jumping out of the way of an on-rushing car is the ego's way of protecting us. This fear-based mechanism is healthy. However, over many lifetimes of trying to survive in a physical body, the ego has grown out of control. As a result, fear dominates the way we think and act.
How do we solve this problem? We need to awaken from our material dream and remember that we are really Beings of Light whose true nature is unconditional love and God-centeredness. That in turn will lead to higher choices based upon unselfishness, understanding, humility, caring, giving, forgiveness, sharing and compassion.
In the process of trying to live such a life, we will go through a profound inner change that is incredible. It’s as though we are wiping the dust off our eyes, as we begin to remember who we really are.
Can all of this be done in just a single lifetime? I don’t think so. It takes tremendous amount of courage and discipline to lead such a life. But we have to begin sometime, if we want to be free again.
As we live a spiritually balanced life, we'll find the ego reacting in a very defensive way. The ego wants to be the source of all the choices we make in life and is afraid of losing control over us. The ego will continue with this struggle and will use fear as a means of maintaining control. The best way to handle this is to reassure the ego that it has nothing to fear. Tell it that you love it unconditionally, but you no longer want it to dictate the path of your life anymore.
The closer you get to relinquishing the ego's influence, the more clever it will become. It will tempt you with all it can to preserve a way of being that keeps you grounded in your lower self and separated from God.
Sooner or later, you will have to experience the "death" of your ego in order to reach enlightenment. Once free from fear, life is lived with great feeling, great zest and our actions are no longer controlled by what we are afraid of.
Spiritual awakening, meditation, exposing one’s self to the universal Truths, living a life of unselfish love, self-discipline, and so on puts enormous pressure on the ego and eventually begins to diminish its influence. The pain of this experience, along with releasing our attachments to the material pleasures of this world, can build to a point where it is called spiritual crisis or the dark night of the soul.
Spiritual crisis is a cleansing process that one must go through to reach partial or total ego death. It can be a very devastating experience that is filled with much depression and despair. But if you can hang on, if you can endure the suffering with patience, acceptance and surrender, you will have a conscious "death" experience and become much closer to God for having experienced it.
I am quite convinced that we will have to go through many ego death experiences, big and small, before the last vestige of fear, selfishness and separation has been removed from us. At that point our cup will be emptied. The dross will have been burned off and we will be who we truly are; God-centered spirits who are free to roam the universe once again.

omg :D:D Thx for the info... I was waiting for that...
Deity is a God. He loves living like a God. (Adulation I suppose)
Although I've looked up the word entropy on numerous occasions, I still don't understand what he means by UK in entropy
UK in meltdown maybe? He could be right
Yh I Immediately think about a meltdown the recession. No can say it is'nt a deep song can they? It makes you think thats for sure!:D
well they were 2 different people! was jesus the christ based on king jesus or have society (the story tellers) mingled the two of them together and come up with a totally different entity? thats the quest.... a guy called Ralph Ellis writes a lot about king jesus (linked to the UK) by the way, sort of ties in with King Arthur king jesus king arthur same difference

I haven't heard "Bodies", yet.
On my favorurite radio station here in Italy it passed only once and I hadn't heard the presentation, cause I had just turn on, so it was almost at the end when I thought "This seems Rob's voice". And I was right!
Then I fell here. Amazing.
But I'm pretty sure you never show up, nor send MPs.
Just my curiosity, does this forum help building a stronger self-esteem? not that you need any...
so long!

Heres my rendition,
Of my 'premonition',
'Bodies' is 'Spiritual',
Follow this 'ritual'.
Now, if you 'believe',
Keep that 'up your sleeve',
Cos I 'see' it 'rising'
Upon the 'horizon'.
Up and away,
Tries not to 'stray',
Temptation is 'hard....to resist',
Get my 'drift'?
So...here we go,
Go with the 'flo',
Remember me....
You will 'see'.....
24 is coming in,
Will it be a 'sin',I think not for sure,
It will open the door,
Of change.....so 're- arrange'....
From my 'ring a bell' thread....Rob is 'spiritual'....and a 'leader'...;)

Here's an interview where Rob talks about the meaning of Bodies:
http://www.swr3.de/musik/Robbie_20Williams_20im_20Exklusiv-Interview/-/id=47316/did=586906/1agqobp/index.html
It's in the box above the header with superman, and it's the last one. ;)
He says, when he wrote it George Bush was sending a lot of people to war in the name of Jesus, and being raised catholic the Jesus he he thinks he knows didn't die so that George Bush could send people to die in a needless war.
And the "God save me rejection" bit is about the modern day struggle, people with body dysmorphias, anorexia, bulema, or who are not happy with their own image, have plastic surgery. And he thinks that is how people feel these days.
And the whole song is conspiracy laden.

Rob is a great song writer, the best for me,I love his lyrics and bodies is a great song too and the lyrics is amazing;)
I think so too!:D I love that most of his songs are about his life in some way.
My 10 year old son has started writing songs and he asked me what he should write about. I gave him Robbie Williams as an example and said write about life, and he does!:cool:
Fat git was listening to Radio 2, yes I am an ageing fat git!! but I sat in the car outside work and thought, yes your back mate, fantastic new song.
My mate said "do you fancy Rob?" well of course I do....dont we all.
Then on to buying tickets for the Roundhouse gig, nice seats, good beer and easy to get to. Oh ****** sold out...... never mind I've never had any luck buying tickets.
Fat git over and out and on to the beer.
Oh yes, sure, also for him.
i think, without him, the world would be worser.
I like the song and the video, its very nice - he really makes it better with the time.
Rudebox is very nice too, Feel and other good songs and awfuls videos.

Hi, I am attempting to seek some clarity on the lyrics of Robbie's new Bodies lyrics... I have seen lyrics posted on the net with the last few lines showing "Jesus really died for you" however it sounds like he sings "Jesus didn't die for you". Can anyone confirm the official lyrics to the song? Thanks, Scoota. (Hope this is the correct thread for this post).

What I don't understand is that I just got my download from iTunes of Bodies, the official single, and the "beep" is still in it. I thought that would have been removed when the actual single was released eg. today and we would have got a clean copy of the song. It is not as if the man hasn't sworn on a song before.
Also am liking the second Double Bodies extended mix, but not really a fan of the third extended mix. - mind you I would have preferred some other songs, but as far as remixes are concerned, I don't mind the first one.

I checked the lyrics here on the official site and the word is "beeped". My guess is they don't want a parental advisory ticket on the album.
Then can I suggest he could of chosen a different word! I just find it really annoying the beep in the middle of everything. It seems to be twice the volume of anything else!

I would go so far as to say that the Body Double Remix is even better than the regular version, and I think it's my favorite of all remixes of Robbie songs. I'm not a big fan of most remixes... especially when they try to make it into more of a dance track, with too much techno beat. But I do love remixes where they stay within the spirit of the song, and improve upon it...

i like Robbie and wish him all the best for his comback but i wish he would come out and say what the lyrics of this song mean:confused:. I think it is very sad if he is putting down the death of Jesus and making fun of christianity like people are saying. it sounds like he is missing something in his life and that is Jesus he did die for all of us and who so ever calls on his name shall be saved that is a promise. I am a born again christian and the lord has taken me from a pitiful life with an abusive man and made me into a completely new person I love him with all my heart. Robbie if you see this please explain your song before too many people believe them and head for a lost eternity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Robbie has a decent chance at no 1 with the single Bodies because even though he's no. 2 in the song download, he is currently no. 1 in the ITunes video download (Alexandre's is nowhere to be seen). Given the fact that loads of people are downloading his video for the single bodies, and (I think) video downloads are also now counted in the singles' chart, doesn't this mean that he has a reasonable chance at no. 1?

40,000 (or even) 90,000 doesn';t sound right to me. Surely on the first few days of a song's release, the figures are a lot higher, especially as Robbie (and Alexandre) have so many fans who would be eager to download on the release date.
I have just ordered his single on Amazon as it happens. I hope he gets the no.1 spot.:)

yep, that is right, I would have loved Bodies to have got to No.1 here. What a shame he is being beaten by someone that mimed her song on the X Factor.:(
imo, Bodies and the remixes are the best thing he has done ever. 'Orchestral Pop' and I love it.
now we have to keep our fingers crossed for the album, he is going up against another reality act JLS and they are hot news.
and who in their wisdom at EMI thought of these releases schedules, my gawd.:( Why do they always pick the wrong week for his releases.

honestly, considering the controversial lyrics, I think #2 is quite strong.

I’m catholic but I do not think at all that Robbie is making fun of Christianity in this song. I think it is a spiritual song. I think Robbie is very interested in spiritual subjects, he’s curious, he wants to investigate and found his personal answers, that's not bad. We can find lyrics about that in other of his songs too. The difference between “Bodies” and other Robbie’s songs in my opinion is that I can always find in them something like a light of hope, I can always see in them the willing to look for something that gives hope I cannot find this hope in Bodies. There is not hope in Bodies. Has Robbie stopped to look for hope and has he arrived at the conclusion that there is not any hope in our life????? (We are only bodies that will end their lives in a cemetery) That’s what make me feel so uncomfortable with the lyrics of this song but I’m totally sure Robbie is not making fun of Christianity.
Have you read this review? http://freelancetheology.com/2009/09/27/a-theological-challenge-from-robbie-williams/ I think it's really interesting

I wont be dissapointed with a #2 in the UK to be honest. Rob often does get to #2 or a bit lower - he hasn't had that many #1's in the UK...and he doesn't need them. His album should go to #1 and that's the important thing - he's an album selling artist :)

I wont be dissapointed with a #2 in the UK to be honest. Rob often does get to #2 or a bit lower - he hasn't had that many #1's in the UK...and he doesn't need them. His album should go to #1 and that's the important thing - he's an album selling artist :)

Two different version.......the first one is the original & the second is a remix ( which has charted unexpectedly high ).......BODIES is not your typical pop song & against what is out there in the charts at the minute it is doing brilliantly.

Just recieved the bodies in the post. Tried to buy on release day but all music shops in my area, HMV included, have stopped selling singles. I'm a bit disappointed that the single I have is censored, seems unusual for RW. Does anyone know if there is an uncensored version or is this it? Maybe it'll be uncensored on the album?

It'll probably be censored on the album too. The official lyrics here on this site only feature a censored version.

I think it's incredibly ridculous that it's censored.

I agree!!! Not a happy bunny! I'm also annoyed how itunes have led to the record shops to stop selling singles! I've got all his singles, and got most of them on the release day, it's like my own little Rob ritual! Go to HMV buy single, (both discs if there are two versions) go home and listen to it full volume! I feel cheated buy the whole downloads thing :( It's probably i tunes that is responsible for the dodgy cardboard sleeve the bodies disc came in!!!

It just doesn't look right next to all the other singles, does it?
Still - it's nice to have another single to add to the collection. :)
