The second single from Take That's multi-platinum, chart-topping album, Progress, will be Kidz and is released on Monday, 28th February 2011.

Kidz is highlighted as the album's key track by Q Magazine, who wrote that the "reintroduction of Robbie Williams into the Take That ranks gave them a shot in the arm" and that Kidz is one of the "brilliantly mad future-disco titans" from Progress.

on the DVD it looks like its Gary. I don't think its Rob. But we will soon find out when the video comes out or if they sing it at the BRITS.

There was a first-play of Kidz on our local radio and the presenter said that it's a duet between Mark and Gary. ... and I trust him... so I've changed my mind and now I'm with those who think it's Gary :o :rolleyes:

The Robbie Rejoining Effect? Roughly akin to applying 5,000 volts to Take That's testicles - with the good doctor Stuart Price on hand to ensure no nasty repercussions. 'The Flood' was, if you will, a mere bridge, with single number two from Progress better showcasing the album's slightly off-kilter, surprisingly adventurous and very British pop sensibilities.

Beginning with the sound of marching feet, and ending with the wail of police sirens, 'Kidz' is a rabble-rousing glam-disco-pop stomper with ambiguously apocalyptic lyrics and - not inappropriately - one hell of a chorus. Mark breaks out the 'tude like he's Liam Gallagher ("Hey hey hey… what you lookin' at?"), Robbie belts out that chorus like The X Factor never happened, and the rest of the boys "la-la-la" like they're already at Wembley. 'Kidz' won't make the tracklisting of many Mothers' Day comps, but honest to God, Take That haven't been this thrilling since 'Never Forget'.

The DVD doesn't prove anything, as Robbie is singing Mark's bit on there and they could well have chopped and changed before the final recording.... and even if we see one of them singing it on Sunday it still won't be a definitive answer. I would however put 10p on it being both Robbie and Gary plus some electronic trickery :)

Mark on the verses ,,, and that's Gary on the chorus I think .. there's a slight chance it could be Rob but I will stick with Gary .. I think the main problem is Progress is such a layered album vocally and musically .. its hard sometimes to separate their vocals .

Also there's a song on the directors cut of Look Back Don't Stare .. where Gary seems to be singing lyrics .. " Come take a ride with me .. " ... I wonder is that Rocket Ship ?? or there's lines to another track that Rob and Mark were singing to Jason .. not sure what that one could be .. they were obviously outtakes from Progress or perhaps they will appear on Progress 2 !

I love seeing new music being produced by the guys .. in the studio . .. thats the best bit for me .. the process is so interesting ..

I know the theme of the performance clashed with the student protests a few weeks back, but I honestly didnt see anything in that performance which would have been out of place on X Factor. I think Simon Cowell made a mountain out of a molehill. Still, TT got to showcase Kidz at the BRITs so it worked out best for them in the end!

If that performance was a taster of things to come, my tickets are going to be an absolute bargain!!!

As a slighly bias fan, my only criticism was the routine was too short. It should have been at least 2 hours long! LOL

The routine being first stole the march (no pun intended) from Plan B's performance. I liked Plan B's but it looked as if he was trying too hard to shock with the burning man etc

If TT planned a "burning man" or were "fighting" with the riot police on X Factor, I would see Simon's point. Somehow, I think he was more concerned about his potential knighthood!

Adele was a refreshing change to the semi-naked wannabe divas. She wore a lovely outfit and just sang. Simple but effective. Not one egg in sight, thank goodness.

TAKE That appear as conquering but battle-weary heroes in the video for new single, Kidz.

They wear a riot of warrior garments to perform their anthem to teen rebellion.

Gary Barlow is dashing in a braided uniform. Jason Orange is decked out like a Second World War flying ace. Howard Donald comes over all gladiatorial. And Robbie Williams is gallant as a knight of the round table – all of them in trainers, of course.

But it looks like caped Mark Owen got the short straw. An insider said: “Rob had great fun ribbing Mark about his costume.”

The Kidz video is premiered on the official Take That app from iTunes from 8am today.

TAKE THAT have come a long way from play fighting half-naked with paint.
GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD, JASON ORANGE and ROBBIE WILLIAMS are a sophisticated hit machine - with more than a little bit of style.

The band know how to put on a show - and their wardrobe department have earned their stripes.

It seems to be themed on military through the ages.

Gary could be a colleague of Richard Sharpe fighting Napoleon, Jason looks a bit like Second World War Nazi desert commander Rommel, and Mark could be a barbarian general. Howard resembles a camp gladiator and Robbie seems to be the first knight in chainmail ever to ride a BMX

It bodes well for the Progress tour this summer. Gary told me at the Brits that this production will outshine the Circus tour - probably the best live show I've ever seen.

And the man band are not afraid to splash the cash to earn it.

Show producer KIM GAVIN, who will also be behind the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, has been handed a £15million budget to play with.

I can also reveal that Robbie has a 40-minute solo section written into his contract.

That means TT fans will have a bit of Angels, then TT as a four-piece with a climax of all five performing old favourites plus Progress.

When the Progress tour was announced last year it shattered records.

The lads shifted more than a million tickets in the time it takes Robbie to smoke a tab. I can't wait.

Also Mark was told to lie about his age back then, so he was actually 18 not 17 at the time.

Gary was 19, and I think J must have just turned 20, making Howie 21/22 ish.

So just ignore Robbie for a bit, the others are legal.

I think the vid for The Flood was what it was - in the same way as they 'had' to do Shame to get the Gary/Robbie thing cleared up, The Flood had to be done to get the whole reunion thing cleared up.

Now they're free to go mad, creatively. No subtexts, just brilliant madness :D

We only get the shortest glimpses of any of the lads it's all space shots and crowds and technology.

So for me I'd rather see The Flood with all it's understatement and feel a connection with the lads and what they're saying in the song.

Costumes are great on all five.:cool: Robbie looks :p but I feel a little bit disappointed.

It was perhaps a bit obvious, but it did the job - we're still here and still going strong all these years later, despite all of the rubbish that's happened in between - where is everybody else who started with us? It worked for me on that level :)

I agree with Tammy to some extent though, Kidz is a much better video than the Flood, although I quite liked The Flood as well. To me Kidz says they have moved on from where they were with The Flood, and are coming together now as a band, rather than a bunch of individual ex band members:D

I love how the guys look, the TT spaceship, the kid taking their photo, the crowd all jumping and the guys rocking, and esp the guys themselves and their characters. Rob looking and acting so young on the bike (the baby), Gaz piloting the ship (Captain), Jay the mad professor, (the thinker) How doing the beat and backing track (the DJ) and Mark in the middle of it all, the calming influence, though always mysterious. It's perfect and I can only imagine now what the tour will be like. Bring it on.

Hmm I think this one is a grower, Im going to have to see it a few more times, and on a big screen to get the whole effect, but so far at this point I'm with Laura. I prefer the Flood.

That said the tech used on Kidz is brilliant, love the costumes (Where's Howie's Jamiroquai hat gone:confused:), and the editing and cinematography is superb. But where as The Flood was an instant with me, Kidz, isnt. Im missing a theme I think - the Flood had a story behind it. In Kidz I see a ship land, TT do their thing and then take off again.

Award winning video? not sure yet. Put this up against Pray, B4G and Patience, yes it's up there, but Kidz doesnt beat them, for me at least. I may change my mind when I see it on a big screen.

And I still dont know what happened to the 5 man rowing boat. Was hoping that was going to be explained LOL Oh well.

I already said to my eye and I've only watched it once, none of the lads were in it enough but it's a lot of special effects. It's a very clever, spectacular probably very expensive video but I like to see all of them in it loads singing the song. It's just personal preference. I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade.

Im surprised I feel this way about the video to be honest. But it think a lot of it is lost on a small screen. It was billed as epic, but that doesnt translate very well on a screen the size of a postage stamp!

I think the video is who they are in a sense... I agree with Jomel on the charactuzation as I said before, it fits their personalities, but also the video fits their interests. It is very Jules Vern, for Jason, it is spaceships, a clear Robbie reference, it is fashionable for Mark, Gary gets to be the leader and Howard is well Howard just banging his drum being awesome.

It shows how they can maintain their individuality while working together for a common goal. It is the message for the kids, be who you are and be willing to fight for it if you have to, but peacefully.

The video also matches the themes that they had hung up in the studio.

Yes you could be right Chrissie :) As I say I've only seen it once so it's just first impressions.

The only way I can explain it is - I'm loving the relationships between the five of them and how their story is unfolding in front of us. I could see that in The Flood and up on stage but I couldn't see that on this latest video. It's as black and white as that to me. :)

Lovelight, which happens to be one of my favourite Robbie vids, for me worked on a small screen, despite being busy. Partly because in several places, Rob was on his own or we had characters to focus on.

The Kidz video, there is a lot to take in all at once. Ive just had a second look and Im seeing things I missed the first time around. Im also convinced that on a bigger screen it will look so much better! Much like how the Flood performance on the Royal Variety didnt really translate well across the TV.

They've portrayed their characters very well in the video.
Its funny how we see the vids differently. The Flood was instant for me. Kidz is an instant for me too. Although I agree with a bit Laura said about not seeing the boys much, the scene changes were too quick, I didn't get a chance to ogle at them for long enough.
Each time I see the video though, I see a bit more that I missed the time before

watched it once, I am going to reserve my judgement before I jump in with both feet. Sort of reminded me of Flash Gordon in places but like I said I have only watched it once. Not a wow on first viewing though, far too busy was the first impression.

Take That videos or stage performances are always going to look busy in comparison to Robbie solo ones though as there are 4 other people involved in the shots for a start. And they're never going to be focussed on just Robbie like his solo videos or stage performances were.

If you can see beyond that and accept the video for what it is, it is very clever, and I'm sure the theme will transfer very well to the stage.

Probably because the single was originally going to be released tomorrow too and was brought forward a week

Maybe it wasn't as easy to do that with the video

Yes I think this could be the key. :)

If you're not used to seeing TT videos or stage shows I think there is an element of surprise and unfamiliarity when you're watching (much like I've read TT4 fans feel when watching all five lads up on stage) whereas if you are already a TT fan the videos/stage shows are exactly what you would expect from them and you are used to the format and staging, costumes, dancers etc etc.

For me, it's just getting used to the differences between the two acts I think and accepting the differences and then enjoying the differences.

Personally I'm glad there is a bit of a time gap between the performances we've already seen, the type of performances we've already seen and the tour because it gives me a chance to get used to what I will probably be seeing in the summer and accepting it and enjoying it.

There's bound to be similarities ... Robbie was after all a part of Take That before he was Robbie Williams. I've never really understood those who say that Robbie's solo music and the more recent Take That songs are poles apart - I think they have both evolved seperately from 1995 to a mutual point in the present, and will continue to evolve together.... oh, maybe that's what Progress is all about:D

I like the Flood video, but I adore the Kidz video. Just amazing. I love how the guys look, the TT spaceship, the kid taking their photo, the crowd all jumping and the guys rocking, and esp the guys themselves and their characters. Rob looking and acting so young on the bike (the baby), Gaz piloting the ship (Captain), Jay the mad professor, (the thinker) How doing the beat and backing track (the DJ) and Mark in the middle of it all, the calming influence, though always mysterious. It's perfect and I can only imagine now what the tour will be like. Bring it on.
i just love it, i think it's brilliant, it's interesting how each one has a role

Is anyone thinking the theme might be more along the lines of HG Wells Time machines rather than Back to the Future? It's all looking a bit Gothic to me.... I can't think of any other act who could get away with that sort of Retro style. I cannot wait to see what they have planned for the Summer now :)

The more I think about it the more I can see it all being HG Wells inspired....time travelling between connected dimensions, with a bit of War of the Worlds thrown in. All very Sci Fi Goth.... :)

Thematically it matches the Beautiful World tour imagery, which was traveling in and out of different worlds. On the DVD extras, the four of them watch the concert and comment on it. The telescope Jason uses is similar to the one used at the beginning of the show, there is the match of the day style satellite which looks very similar to the spaceship shots. I did see it as a metaphor too, very clever. Rob ready to face the hostility, defiantly, standing by his team mates as an equal. The brave one ready to face whatever comes their way. The first out of the block to survey the troops he, with his mates, will soon conquer.

But that IS reading way too much into it!:D not bad for a bloke on a BMX!

I have watched both videos for a several times today and I have to agree with @Laura.
I love Kids but the video is a bit confusing for me. Although Rob is absolutely adorable and cute in it.
I prefer The flood video.:)
However I adored The Brits performance of the Kids. I hoped that the video would be something similar.:p
(P.S. I have always said that GB is on the chorus so it wasn't a surprise for me...)

Why the delay in release though?. Kidz is struggling to make an impact in the charts.

It seems somewhat obvious to me that TT should have released Kidz and Rocket Ship as a double A side - as Rocket Ship is a fantastic track and would have pushed new sales as the majority of people already have the album and therefore already have Kidz.

I think someone mentioned that the single was brought forward a week early, but they couldnt do the same for the video. The charts these days are a little odd, I think the BBC top 40 said that Kidz was in it's 3rd or 4th week of release. :confused: So they must be counting album downloads.

Plus there has been little promo of Kidz up until now. Im surprised they released the vid on the app first! Sponsorship deals must have had a hand in this. But after the sales of Progress, maybe we shouldnt be that surprised! Most have the album, why buy the radio edit when you already have the full album version? Perhaps people are just downloading the remix and Rocket Ship.

BTW has anyone worked out who the 6th person is in those photos at the end of the video?

Well, on the big screen it's much better, but I must admit that I think that "The Flood" is much better for me:o In "Kidz" video they all look great, especially Robbie, but I can't see their faces properly. But the technologies are really great and I'm glad that the majority of fans love it:)
