I love the way Robbie's bits have been spliced in as if he had never been away.
I CANNOT WAIT!!!! Bring it on........ then Cardiff and Wembley for me!!!!
well, I think it is very dismissive of his solo career and the fans that supported him in those times. But I am sure it is going to be a great concert :D

I could not disagee with you more Jackie. I think by doing that it is giving a message of the celebration and proudness at Robbie's solo achievements, and don't forget, an awful lot of the people going to the concert are also part of Robbie's solo fanbase.
I wish I was going to Sunderland as well now, I cannot wait to hear how the opening night goes, and how they incorporate Robbie's amazing solo achievements into what is bound to be another amazing Take That show.

Take That fans at fever pitch ahead of Sunderland Stadium of Light gigs
Sunderland Echo

TAKE That fever is sweeping Sunderland with just three days until the band’s tour kicks off in the city.
Excited fans are counting down the hours to the first concert of Progress Live 2011, at the Stadium of Light on Friday.
The tour will be the first with bandmate Robbie Williams, who recently rejoined Take That, after quitting in 1995.
Fans are gearing up for what is set to be a spectacular show.
Nicola Marsden, 34, a bank worker, from Seaham said: “I’m really excited. I saw them last time and they were amazing. The atmosphere was just great and it should be just as good this time.
“I’m excited to see Robbie as well. It’ll be different with him back.”
Her mum, Susan Hudspith, 55, from Seaham, said: “I never saw them last time but my daughter told me it was amazing so I’m really looking forward to it.”
Nurse Debbie Quinn, 38, from Grangetown, said: “I came last time and I thought it was absolutely brilliant, and it’s going to be even better now that Robbie’s back.”
Val Payne, from Roker, who works for Ramsdens, said: “I’m very excited. I could hear them practising the other night.
“My mam is 74 and even she’s coming. She wanted to last time but she said she couldn’t stand for as long but she’s coming this time.”
Sarah Calvert, 24, from Barnes, said: “I never went to see them last time, but a lot of my friends did and I felt a bit left out. Robbie was always my favourite as well so I can’t wait to see him.
“I think they’ll be trying their best to outdo the last show so it should be amazing. I’m going on the last night so hopefully it will go off with a bang.”
The 36 stadium shows in the tour are sell-outs with 1.34million tickets being snapped up in just 24 hours.
Take That kicked off their last tour Circus Live in 2009 at the Stadium of Light, which saw them riding a giant mechanical elephant alongside acrobats and clowns.
We want to see your photos from the Take That concerts at the Stadium of Light and they will be published in the Echo or on our website. Email your pictures to takethat@northeast-press.co.uk.

so it is TT x 4 and RW solo bit and then TT x 5 then. So those rumours right at the beginning were true.

Take That kick off sell-out tour
9:36pm Friday 27th May 2011
The Guardian
Chart superstars Take That set the seal on their reunion with robots, giant caterpillars and high wires as they kicked off their spectacular sell-out tour - one of the biggest ever to be staged.
The show - staged at Sunderland's Stadium Of Light Premier League ground - was the first major public gig by the group with Robbie Williams restored to the line-up.
The gig also proved to be almost a three-for-the-price-of-one offer with Williams performing a set of his own hits part-way through as well as two versions of Take That performing.
Williams rejoined for last year's Progress album after quitting the line-up in 1995, paving the way for years of acrimony. He held off rejoining when the band reformed for a series of shows in 2006, instead concentrating on his solo career.
But the factions eventually buried the hatchet and they secretly entered a recording studio in 2009.
The show opened with the group's number two hit Rule The World, a no-frills opener and the first of five songs from the Robbie-free years, all performed without Williams.
It was followed by Greatest Day, one of the group's 11 number one hits during their career which now spans 20 years, performed in the round and accompanied by plumes of yellow confetti being shot into the air.
"Who cares about the rain?" said Gary Barlow, referring to the downpour which began moments before the band took the stage. "We're from up north - we're used to it."
Within minutes Mark Owen was riding a huge caterpillar on stage as the group sang an Alice in Wonderland-themed Shine.
Williams dropped 40ft to the stage by harness to begin his section of the concert with his huge hit Let Me Entertain You, going on to play some of his biggest hits

Take That kicked-off their Progress Live 2011 tour tonight Friday May 27th at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light in spectacular fashion. The tour, one of the most highly anticipated music events of the summer, is the first time the band have toured as a five-piece since 1995. The awesome live show celebrated their biggest hits from the last two decades, saw Robbie take to the stage to perform songs from his incredible chart-topping solo career and revealed an amazing set which includes a fully operational 20 metre tall man the band have nicknamed ‘OM’.
Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen took to the stage at 8.30pm to start the show to a deafening crowd reception starting as they meant to finish, with their biggest hit to date ‘Rule The World’. They then delivered four more of their biggest songs as a four piece including: ‘Greatest Day’ (including a huge yellow confetti canon blast), ‘Hold Up A Light’, ‘Patience’ and ‘Shine’ (which saw the band joined onstage by an Alice in Wonderland style dancing cast of dancing trees, roller-skating bees and huge caterpillar).
Next four became five, as Take That briefly united onstage ‘virtually’ through a huge video screen to sing their own version of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band; creating the bridge between the first two parts of the show.
Robbie Williams then kicked off his solo set with a stadium thumping ‘Let Me Entertain You’ which had the crowd jumping off their feet. His set proceeded through his own classics: ‘Rock DJ’ (where he climbed into a glass chariot to be pulled around the stage by dancers in roller-skates), ‘Come Undone’, ‘Feel’ (which saw him winched out to the audience) and of course finishing with the amazing ‘Angels’.
Before the five are reunited properly onstage a group of ominous looking Shaolin monks adorned in red cloaks swinging lanterns walk from the B-stage to the main stage to introduce their arrival. Take That then sing the song that marked their historic return; ‘The Flood’. For this the dancers performed an amazing routine taking place on a wall of water while the band sang from the highest part of the stage.
Robbie threw himself off the top for the finale of ‘The Flood’ to the floor via suspension cables before the band break into an explosive version of ‘SOS’ from their record breaking album ‘Progress’. This is the point where the audience are first introduced to a huge mechanical man who is revealed from behind the stage and slides out in a sitting position for the guys to sing ‘Underground Machine’ (again from ‘Progress’) to rapturous cheers from the audience.
The band then move to the B stage to perform ‘Kidz’ where they start an old skool dance-off involving Jason and Howard, flanked by human chess pieces dressed in black and white. ‘Pretty Things’ is performed back on the main stage with Gary and Robbie being lifted up by OM’s hands as a beautiful ballet dancer flits between the two stages.
Next the band share a few laughs with each other and the audience about old times before gathering around a piano for a medley of ‘Million Love Songs’, ‘Babe’, ‘Everything Changes’, ‘Back For Good’ and ‘Pray’ the final song for which they get up and do the original dance routine while the crowd go crazy.
Gary, Howard, Jason, Mark and Robbie then begin what has to be one of the high points of the show: new XMen single ‘Love, Love’ featuring twenty dancers in gas masks flanking the band on either side of the main stage, while the mechanical man moves out into the middle of the stadium (carrying the band), with an awesome futuristic landscape on the VT behind which takes up the entire back wall.
As the show draws near to its finale the band break into ‘Never Forget’ as OM reveals his full height (20 metres) and the band then finish with ‘No Regrets’, a fiery performance of ‘Relight My Fire’ (with Robbie singing Lulu’s part) closing the show with Gary Barlow leading on the beautiful ‘Eight Letters’ (also the final track on ‘Progress’).
Take That’s Progress Live 2011 tour became the biggest tour in UK and Irish history when a record breaking 1.34 million tickets were snapped up in less than 24 hours of going on sale. The band smashed their previous box office record set in 2008 with The Circus Live Tour selling a total of 1.76 million tickets overall, more than doubling their own record for sales in a single day. 850,000 tickets went on sale at 9am on October 29, 2010 and throughout the day the band added a further 11 dates to cope with demand.
Between them, Take That and Robbie Williams have sold over 80 million albums, had 14 number one albums, 18 number one singles, played to over 14.5 million people live, won 20 BRIT Awards, eight MTV awards and five Ivor Novello awards; and the list goes on. The band’s critically acclaimed 2010 album, ‘Progress’, has now sold in excess of two million copies.

Take That wow Sunderland
8:00am Saturday 28th May 2011
Northern Echo
A capacity crowd witnessed history in the making last night as Robbie Williams rejoined Take That in Sunderland for the opening night of their Progress Tour. KAREN WESTCOTT reports.
THERE were two towering statues, fireworks, shooting flames and even cascading water, but in the end all they really wanted to see - and sing along with - was Take That.
In one of the most eagerly anticipated shows for decades, Robbie Williams reunited with Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald to leave 54,654 screaming fans baying for more in this Stadium of Light spectacular.
Fans fortunate enough to witness Take That's Circus Tour - which also kicked off in Sunderland in 2009 - were adamant last night had eclipsed even that.
The North-East crowd were left in no doubt that the show - the first of four at the Stadium of Light - was the place to be.
By the end of the UK leg of the Progress Tour - the first since 1995 to feature Williams - the band will have played to around 1.5m people.
The four regular Take That members made an undramatic entrance on stage at 8.30pm but as the night wore on the show became more and more awesome.
Bursting into song, they instantly had everyone on their feet, singing every word of every song for the rest of the night.
They began with Rule The World, and their initial five song set included Greatest Day and Shine.
"Sunderland this could be the greatest night of our life", said Gary. "It's brilliant to be here."
They left the stage and the crowd - consisting of children, parents grandparents and largely 40 somethings - chanted for Robbie.
He emerged from a giant screen and shouted: "Sunderland can you feel me. It's fantastic to be back on stage. The last time was 2006."
He launched into Let Me Entertain You and after completing five songs he was joined by the others. Then together, once more, Take That entertained with both old favourites and songs from the new Progress album.
One of the highlights was Relight My Fire.
The set was incredible - with one of the giant statues steadily moving out from the stage into the centre of the arena as the show progressed - arms outstretched, almost like the Angel of the North.
Grown women, complete with face paint, deeley boppers, banners and feather boas came close to tears and screamed like teenagers.
Tracey Jones, 40, from the Eastbourne area of Darlington, had queued in the snow in the early hours back in November when the tickets went on sale.
"I did not think the Circus Tour could be bettered but this is brilliant. It's completely different , you can't compare it," she added. "Robbie's presence was fantastic."
Abbie Bell, 12 of Haughton, Darlington, was with her nanna Caroline King, 57, who lives near Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
Of the 30 children in Abbie's class at Longfield School, 20 have tickets to see one of Take That's Sunderland shows.
"It's absolutely fabulous. I think Robbie Williams singing has been the best bit so far," said Abbie." I totally love Angels."
Julie Mather, 49, a nurse, of Aycliffe Village, said: "It's spine tingling. I can't speak, I'm speechless."
And Eileen Lee, 43, from Hexham, admitted that this was her first ever concert.
"Wow what a concert to be at," she added. "Robbie and Take That on one stage is amazing."

someone said "it was all about Robbie"
can't wait to see some pics
I don't think it was all about Robbie by any means. It was still essentially a Take That show, and that was I think emphasised by Robbie not coming on straight away, and by the fact that he only did old songs, and he did them on the main stage. I'm glad it didn't turn into a mini Robbie concert. I loved the fact that he sang Lulu's bit in Relight my Fire LOL and that he sang Come undone and that they all did No Regrets... I cannot wait now until 15th June:D
Robbie certainly seems happier than I've seen him for ages, and certainly a lot happier and fitter than he was in 2006.
I'm sure there will be some who will be disappointed by it in some respect, but I hear it was a brilliant show, Robbie got a superb reception, and I'm sure he will on the rest of the tour too. It will be intersting to see if they vary the set list at all. There is scope to do that, as it isn't as pre scripted as The Circus set list was.
I can't wait to see Pray - Mr B and Mr W were a tad out of breath it seems LOL

REVIEW: Take That wow Wearside
Sunderland Echo
By Entertainments Editor Katy Wheeler
Published on Saturday 28 May 2011 12:37
IN a word: WOW.
Take That kicked off their Progress Live tour in stupendous style to a sold-out crowd at the Stadium of Light.
The look of the show had been kept under tight wraps, but it didn’t disappoint.
Think Minority Report, a slice of space age, a touch tribal with a dash of Alice in Wonderland thrown in for good measure.
Add to that a human chess set and a giant pipe-smoking caterpillar and you get some impression of the visual feast the band dished out to their 55,000 chanting fans.
Yet it was the music that mattered most as the lads worked their way through a selection of classic hits and more recent chart-toppers.
Seeing the band as a five-piece was what everyone had been waiting for, but the crowd were kept in suspense for a little longer as Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard opened the show minus Robbie.
Despite a rainy start to the spectacle, it couldn’t dampen the spirit of the night as the four-piece belted out the anthemic Rule The World and Greatest Day amid a tour-de-force of pyrotechnics.
Then it was Robbie’s turn in the spotlight as he burst onto stage to smash hit Let Me Entertain You.
In typical Williams fashion, he had all the swagger and confidence of his solo days topped off with his trademark cheeky grin.
You couldn’t help feeling it was the Robbie Williams show at times, but his performance of Angels, Rock DJ and Feel as he floated above the audience on a platform had the audience’s energy soaring high above the home of the Black Cats.
An ad-libbed ode to Open Night also went down well with its nods to former SAFC manager Peter Reid and mackem lasses.
You’ve got to hand it to Williams – he commands the stage like no one else.
Soon it was time to see why Progress Live’s become one of the fastest-selling shows ever: Take That touring with Robbie for the first time in 15 years.
All the stops were pulled out effects-wise as they performed Flood above a human waterfall of dancers who performed aerial acrobatics in a cascade of water.
It was a theatrical spectacle I didn’t think could be beaten until the fab five were joined on stage by a Goliath of a robot which stood 60ft tall.
He moved around and out to the crowd and the band even sang in the palms of his hands: befitting as this is exactly where they had the audience.
But, despite the £15million reportedly ploughed into the concert and the amazing special effects such a huge budget affords, it was the original Take That line-up gathered around Gary’s piano for a good old sing-song which proved one of the biggest highlights of the night.
They’ve had solo hits, they’ve had hits as a four-piece, but nothing beats the magic of Take That’s classic 90s tunes.
A Million Love Songs, Babe and Back for Good proved to be a phone/camera/any-light-you-can-find in the air moment as the crowd swayed in mutual reminiscence.
Robbie may not be back for good, but after this show you can almost forget he ever left.

Thanks for sharing all these brillant vids and pics... :) And especially the solo Robbie stuff is incredibly... :D
apparently, there is going to be slight adjustments to the set list with each different venue, which would account for hearing different songs with the sound checks the other night, the format of the show stays the same with TT x 4 -Robbie solo-TT x 5 also, the shows are being filmed every night in HD.:)

Thank you for all the videos - the transition from Shine to Robbie's solo part is my favourite so far - I keep looking at the rabbit thinking...is that Robbie? LOL It is very very clever the way they've done it. I cannot wait now to see the show live - no matter how many times you watch youtube clips nothing is like really being there :)

Obviously:rolleyes:.... the rabbit on stage is far too good a dancer, and the scrreen is obviously pre recorded... it's still a brilliant link though:D

This video is beautiful and RW looks so(cannot find the words)but good and at ease.
The rabbit lead in to the Robbie section is brilliant, from what I have seen on the YT clips the show its something for sure.
I really liked Robbie's opening, how memorable is that and the water wall is another spectacular moment too, topped off with Robbie's leap of faith, diving head first from the staging at the top to land on the stage.
I am sure everyone going will walk away feeling they really have seen something special.:)

Of course it breaks the surprise but I'm sure we'll be flabbergasted anyway when we see it live....

Went to opening night and it blew me away. So much so that although I was a fan back in the day, i've just been a fan from the outside since Robbie left, but now I want to be a full on fan again!! Metro was a nightmare afterwards. We walked to a stop ten mins away on got on there - much quicker!!
We queued from 6am. I've never done that before. The pushing and shoving when the gates opened was horrendous and we were crammed in like sardines between 3pm and 5pm without being able to get out for food. Not good! Got a great position at the barrier by the walk way though and got to touch Robbie, so all worth it in the end!
I've never been so close to Rob before. I nearly peed my pants!!
Sooo want to meet him now!

That link between No Regrets and Relight My Fire is brilliant.
Thank you for all of the video links GB.
My favourite so far is his entrance, the whole routine in Pray which I absolutely love and Feel. What he does in Feel is a stroke of genius I think. "I want to contact the living" and there he is doing it. :) I love it.
The whole gig looks like one big, genuine, warm, heartfelt party.
As good as I ever imagined and Robbie is as good as I ever hoped he would be.

Thank you GB and all you lovelies who have put up the video links it is so nice of you..The whole show looks amazing and the Man who has done other T/T shows and is doing the Olympics is a true genius and is so in tune with what fans and normal peeps want to see, even done on such a large scale this show had a genuine personal feel about. This has been so well done and there is such a variety for everyone to like.I am sure this has done RW so much good and made him have an even more renewed vigor to entertain. His rap about superinjuctions was so now and clued in too.

I will try bit by bit elena, can't quite catch some of it but its along the following lines :)
he says (moreorless) Do you know what, it struck me last night that there are an awful lot of boys here tonight and they can't all have been dragged along by me Mrs to a TT gig, you haven't got Mrs here , I was right, when you were saying back in the day you were into (can't quite get the next bit) Beautiful South you were secretly in front of a mirror with a hairbrush singing Never Forget. You know it. Don't like that Robbie one far to cheeky isn't he. You are very far away tonight.

Erm - up to now I've loved every single clip I've seen of the gig but watching that finale I can totally understand the people that have said that Eight Letters doesn't completely work as the last song. Eight letters is one of my very favourite songs on Progress, I love it, but it's not worked out there how I was expecting.
Other than Gary singing, the other four are a bit surplus to requirements so are left to wander into the crowd in a bit of a random way taking photos and messing about for the couple of dozen fans that can actually see them  The rest of the audience can't see, no one is singing along and it seems a bit anticlimatic after all the energy of the show.
Does it feel different when you're actually there?
I see what you mean laura, Eight Letters is a lovely song, but its not a finale song to me, I wonder why they did choose that to close with.

Susie and Laura you have both got it exactly right , i watched the clip of eight letters and the emotion from when Robbie sang it in the documentary and from the band doing the album version somehow doesnt transfer to stage . I love the song but like you say it somehow leaves you abit underwhelmed for the final song . Would have loved if they had all sang Angels , would have been so much more fitting .
I sort of have mixed feelings about eight letters, firstly no disrespect to Gary but as soon as I heard it it spoke and had RW`s lyrics obvious to see and hear and to me his voice suits it better for emotional delivery, however as a last song it does lack energy to some exstent but it was so lovely to see them all esp RW meeting the fans.Angels as a show ending would be to eggy and too much about Robbie, they are an equal five piece now,or should be.

I realise exactly why they chose it Susie :) - I thought it would be perfect as the final song, I wanted it as the final song but I envisaged all five of them on stage together backing GB who I believe should sing the song live.
But while Gary's singing, the other four have disappeared off stage, Robbie's taking photos and no one appears to be listening. They seem a bit excess to requirements and what about the 99% of the stadium that can't see them properly?
Thinking on it now - those that said Never Forget should be the last song were right. :)
Radio Ra Ra .
31-05-11, 10:38 PM
Nothing wrong with the song as such, however the delivery was weak & sung with little emotion, it lacked drive which is what you need to wind up a show, something that you remember & leaves you wanting more. I do not think that Gary should have been left on his own on stage at the end but I guess they know what they are doing. I bet the fans in the audience were quite happy to shake the lads hands.
Laura130262
31-05-11, 10:38 PM
I don't like to criticise the lads because they are obviously working their socks off - it was just an observation.
I hope when they do a song change, prob Manchester RW will do his Sin song.Rob has such a good stylist now,his suits and stage clothes are so gorge esp the hardware trimmings and such which I presume also fix him in the jumping things etc.He looked as though he would get dragged off when he was above the audience touching them though.
well, it is like this :p I rather like them ending with Eight Letters it has a certain poignancy about it. I understand why there seems to be disappointment that they haven't ended the show on a vibrant bouncy song, for me though ending like this makes it different and I think that is what they wanted to acheive..a sort of message. I find it very touching.
Perhaps they wanted to end the show in the same way they sort of started, which was pretty low key, they came on to a ticking clock and a bell (the sun) which I presume it was the ticking down to the time when Robbie would be returning (I may be wrong) and end the concert with a song which is about them together.
It may not be stadium friendly so much, expect to those on the barriers, but it will look wonderful on the DVD.:D

He is looking so much better in all aspects , thats why however reluctant i was, im now embracing him rejoining TT . Never thought id see the day id go to a TT show, but hey change can be good as Robbie is proving with the energy he has been putting into the tour.:)

Eight Letters is a great album song but not as an ending to a concert, I think that they should have used Never Forget which has a resounding chorus to it & something the audience an get their teeth into & sing along to.

Take That complete Wearside shows

1st June
Pop superstars Take That rounded off a four-night stay at the Stadium of Light in triumphant fashion last night.
Chart superstars Take That have heaped praise on Sunderland after once again kicking off their European tour at the city's Stadium of Light.
The band famously kicked off its Circus Live tour at the same venue with two spellbinding nights in 2009 and on Friday 27th May the band returned to Wearside to kick off the Progress Live tour - the band's first since the return of Robbie Williams - this time with four shows.
A combined audience of almost a quarter of a million people took in the hugely successful performances, which culminated in a final outing in the north east on Tuesday evening before the tour rolls on to Manchester and continues in some of the most famous stadia in Europe.
Addressing the Wearside crowd on Tuesday evening alongside fellow band members Robbie Williams, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, Gary Barlow commented: "We have had four magical nights at the Stadium of Light. It's been brilliant to be here.
"I just want to say thank you to everyone for being so nice to us while we've been here in the North East. Everybody we've met has been great."
Sunderland has now been put firmly on the music industry map after successfully hosting the band's last two tours, as well as featuring headline acts Oasis and Pink since 2009.
And Rob Ballantine, director of promoters SJM Concerts - the company behind Take That's latest tour - has reaffirmed the city's strength in attracting future big-name tours following this summer's success:
"The North East has once again provided Take That with the perfect start to their European tour," he commented.
"Four sold out stadium shows in Sunderland is a phenomenon unique to Take That and as the shows' promoters we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the hundreds of people in Sunderland that played their part in delivering the Progress Live tour's opening shows.

The only reason i went 2 sunderland last night 2 c take that was cause of the fact Robbie was there i would'nt have bothered if it was just the 4 of them. Robbie is god in my eyes.
Robbie's performance has certainly captivated the audiences. Even hardened Take That fans are saying that he overpowered the TT performance.
He is doing an amazing job, enthusiasm, passion, energy and of course the charisma. I aint dissing the Barlow and I like his simple lyrics and music but the concert lays to rest why Robbie's solo career was such a success and Mr B's not. Even though Mr B is a great song writer he just don't have the charisma - and I think he probs knows this. Robbie's lyrics and the poetic composition and meaning are just phenomenal.
The concert gives a lot of closure in different areas. It was done perfectly and I think TT in a way acknowledged Robbies talent by giving him the stage, lots of things were indirectly addressed and resolved.

Robbie's Angel
01-06-11, 10:12 PM
Ok, a little background info to start with...
I was a Take That fan back in the day. Robbie was always my favourite. I supported them right through until he left. My loyalty towards the band then fizzled out. I still liked Rob and bought a few of his albums, but wouldn't call myself a major fan anymore. Fast Forward to opening night in Sunderland...
My friends have been going to Take That concerts for the past few years and have always queued from silly o'clock in the morning. They informed me we were doing this this time. I wasn't keen but went along with it for the experience. So my alarm went off at 3.45am in my hotel in Newcastle. I was looking forward to seeing the 5 guys back together again and especially seeing Robbie in the flesh up close for the first time ever, so my adrenaline dragged me out of bed and into the bath. We got ready and left the hotel at 5am to catch the first metro to Sunderland.
We'd heard rumours that there were already hundreds camped outside the stadium, but when we arrived there was probably only about 50 people who had camped overnight and we were one of the first to arrive who hadn't camped. It was about 6am.
We opened out the deck chairs that we'd brought along and sat down. My friend informed me that it would be 14 hours until we'd be in there and the boys would be on stage. I couldn't believe I was doing this. I felt a bit of a saddo! We popped round to the McDonalds nearby for some brekkie and sat there chatting. There were a few Take That jokes flying around. It was a little cloudy so I piped up and said "you know what those clouds are doing don't you?....they're holding back The Flood"!! We needed a little humour, it was early!!!
People slowly filtered in the queue behind us and by 10am there were a few hundred people behind us. The weather kept changing from sunny and warm, to windy and cold. It was during the cold moments that I'd wished I'd brought my Robbie jumper from years ago. It was grey with a hood and had a floppy haired Rob on the front. I'd forgotten I had that until then!
We whiled away the hours chatting, Twitter and Facebooking, nipping to the shops and to the loo, which we found by the ticket office, which most other people didnt realise was there. During one of these trips we were stopped by a mand from BBC Radio Newcastle who asked us for an interview. We agreed and I made sure I dropped in that I was there because Robbie was back and wouldn't have queued otherwise!!
Different press were turning up throughout the day, photographers and film crew taking photos and filming the crowds and radio stations trying to grab interviews. We had a few spots of rain here and there, but nothing too bad.
Eventually 3pm came around. This was when we were being let into the courtyard. My friends had warned me that when this gate opened we needed to run like the wind to the door inside the courtyard.
The security started looking like they were going to open the first gate so we got up and edged forward. There were people behind us who had turned up hours later than us who were trying to push in. I was not impressed with this set up. We deserved a good position having sat there so long. Eventually the first gate opened. I've never seen anything like it in my life! Everyone was pushing and shoving, running towards the door in the courtyard. Security were telling people not to run and putting their arms out to stop you. People were falling over, even a security guy fell to the floor. I found it quite funny actually. I ran for my life. I had no idea where my friends were, but I kept running. I eventually found them the other end. We managed to get a decent place in the next queue, but we were wedged in like sardines. We couldn't get out to get food or go to the toilet or we'd lose or place in the queue. We hadn't planned on this and didn't have water or food on us. So we stood there or two hours, surviving on a lolly that had been given out. Some girls in front were not happy with how it had been handled and kept shouting at the security people.
We were kept entertained by the local radio station who were blaring out Take That songs every now and then. I was starting to feel a little excited now, but we still had that final hurdle of getting a barrier position inside the stadium. There was a tiny part of me that was worried that Rob would pull out last minute too.
It got to 5pm and we were told they would be opening the barrier, but we were to walk inside and not push or shove. Who were they kidding?! The minute they moved the barrier there was a surge of people rushing forward. The security couldnt handle it. Again people from behind us were managing to get ahead of us. One of my friends was very determined so she darted of in front, whilst we darted as fast as we could down the stairs and headed for the front. When we got near, we could see my friend had claimed a barrier position fairly near the front on the walk way. She had stuck her elbows out to try and make sure there was space for us too. LOL! Bless her! I couldn't believe it, we were going to have an amazing view! We sat ourselves down and realised that we were positioned next to the same people we had been next to in the queue. They were 3 red headed girls from Holland. Two of them were crying as the whole stress of getting in had upset them. Alot of people were out raged by the way it was handled.
We managed to then get out for some food and the loo before the Pet Shop boys finally came on stage around 6.45pm. I was not impressed as I had a drunken woman behind me who was singing badly at the top of her voice and stank of alcohol. Plus I could hear her saying to her friends that she was going to try and edge in to the barrier when the boys came on. Err I think NOT love, you should have been here earlier!
I enjoyed the Pet Shop boys, although I paid more attention to the dancers if I'm honest, they were really good! They finished about 8pm, then the countdown was really on.
At just gone 8.30pm the build up started for the begining of the show. I was proper excited now. Eventually the four boys walked on stage. My friend turned to me and said 'wheres Robbie?'. My heart sank a little but I optimistically said 'he'll be on later dont worry'. The boys launched into their song and I thought, I'm sure he'll come on later or they would have said something. They made their way towards the B stage and to be honest I couldnt see much from the walkway. I was a little disappointed with this, but I knew I'd have a great view of main stage when they came back down. By now the drunk woman was really annoying me. She was pushing against me and putting her arm around her friends shoulder which in turn was digging me in the shoulder. I threw her arm off me and told her to get off me!!
I could hear Gary down the other end saying that 'someone may join them later'. I screamed like a teenager!! After the boys had sang their 4 or 5 songs a pleasant sight greeted me on the big screen on main stage. There was Robbie's gorgeous mug...in a rabbit suit, then in a gorge black outfit as he bounced around the screen. I screamed my little heart out. Suddenly all those emotions from childhood came rushing back. Then he appeared through some doors and abseiled down to the stage. He seemed to be having a problem getting the harness off him when he landed. I felt a bit sorry for him. His big entrance and he's standing there feeling a bit of a pillock, not being able to move away! He did undo them eventually though and proceeded to launch into Let Me Entertain You, with the swagger that only Rob can do. I screamed and screamed, which isnt really like me! He looked amazing. I sang along to all the words of his song and nearly wet my pants when he sailed across the audience on a platform. He was so close! I actually feared for him a bit that he would be pulled off the platform!!
It felt amazing to watch him sing his own songs live. The audience were going crazy for him and he was lapping it up. I've never felt an atmosphere like it.
Then came the moment when the five of them were reunited. The intro for The Flood started and they all appeared on five platforms above the stage. It was an emotional moment to see. I glanced across at all of them. Finally they were back together again, all their differences had been put behind them. Rob reached across and held Mark's hand for a second. It was so lovely to see. The crowd went absolutely beserk!! I had such an amazing view of the stage as well. They were so close. You could see every expression. They just seemed at peace with each other and so happy. It's the first time in a long time that I've thought Robbie looked part of Take That instead of being a separate person.
They sang some of the new songs from the album and I noticed that people around me didn't appear to know the words to it, but there I was singing along. When Rob and Gaz had finished singing Pretty Things, I felt a little sorry for them as there wasnt an awful lot of cheering. It was like the crowd just wanted the old songs. Eventually they did do some of the old songs. My favourites of which were of course Everything Changes - you should have seen Rob's face when he was singing it. It was like he was back 'home' again. The best bit was the pray routine though. Seeing the boys perform it again was brilliant. My god did Rob look sexy aswell! He did a little bow afterwards and looked really chuffed with himself!!......continued in next post.....
Robbie's Angel
01-06-11, 10:13 PM
All too soon the concert was coming to an end. The boys were on the B stage singing 'Eight Letters'. I saw a crew member push the cables to the side in front of us. My eyes widened and I said to my friend 'why are they moving those?!' Before long the boys had walked down to the walkway right in front of us. Rob took a girls camera and took a photo of Gary and Jason, then Mark passed the camera to a crew member to take a photo of Rob, Mark and Howard. Then I could see Rob make his way over to our side of the crowd and start shaking peoples hands along the barrier. I nearly hyperventilated!! He was getting closer and closer, before he was right in front of me!! sadly mine wasn't one of the hands he grabbed but I did manage to touch his hand on top, in fact I scratched my knuckle with his gold ring! He looked so god damn handsome standing there! There boys took their final bow, then off they went.
Well I came away from that concert on an absolute high. Seeing the band reunited, being so close to them as well as the amazing effects of the massive robot 'Om' had just made it the best night of my life.
Sadly the transport home was a bit of a nightmare. There was a MASSIVE queue to get on the metro back to Newcastle. We eventually worked out that walking a few stops down was a better idea, but when we eventually got on it was still packed and we had to stand nose to nose for 30 minutes. We didnt get to bed until 2am, but it was so worth it. My friends were getting up the next day to do it all again but I was heading home. I was so gutted.
So that experience has re-ignited my love for Robbie. I've come home, joined every forum I can find and watched videos of him over and over. He is one amazing human being who has been through so much. I can see myself in some of his experiences which makes me adore him even more.
Mr Williams thank you for coming back into my life and making me smile again :-)

Yes inside his pants, it's the naughty Robbie syndrome, wouldn't have him any other way.
Has the info come out yet about the line up of musicians for the Tour?
I think I saw Gary Nuttall on the videos, but who are all the others... Any of ROB's band ? apart from Gary ? (if it was him, I'm not sure !)
Can the lucky ones who saw the Lads' magnificent concert already, tell us more ?
