Heroes 'n' Williams
The Sun 3rd August ![]() ROBBIE WILLIAMS has signed up to headline a huge one-off gig for Help for Heroes. The TAKE THAT star is backing Our Boys by topping the bill at the biggest charity gig since Live Earth in 2007. The three-hour Heroes Concert, featuring top comedians alongside the great and the good of rock and pop, takes place in front of 60,000 fans at Twickenham next month. The BBC are on board to broadcast the whole event live - and it will have the royal seal of approval. The VIP bar better be well stocked because Army officer Prince Harry and his pals will be there. A stunning line-up is falling into place for the charity bash on September 12. Acts in talks to join Robbie include GARY BARLOW, PIXIE LOTT and JLS plus KASABIAN, STEREOPHONICS and more to be announced over the coming weeks. Top funnymen including JASON MANFORD, MICHAEL McINTYRE and JACK DEE have also agreed to introduce bands on stage and do a quick burst of material. THE WHO frontman ROGER DALTREY has played a huge role behind the scenes, working on the line-up with promoters Live Nation. I've been leaked all the facts and can reveal the show is now ready to be officially unveiled today. A source said: "This is something special for Help for Heroes. "All the bands and acts involved feel incredibly strongly about raising money for the families of our Armed Forces who are left without their loved ones. "The bands in particular have been keen to get involved and offer their support for such a great cause because they are the ones the soldiers listen to. "As is always the case with these gigs, getting everyone in the same stadium on the same day is a logistical nightmare. "It will be incredibly emotional. "There will be some moving tributes to all the servicemen and women who lost their lives in action in Iraq and Afghanistan." Gary Barlow ... joining Rob? This sounds like it could be a good 'un. There was a spell a few years back when charity gigs were an annual feature - starting with Live 8 in 2005, then the Concert For Diana and Live Earth, both in 2007. Gary Barlow put on a great show at the Royal Albert Hall for Children In Need last year. But this is the first mega-gig for Our Boys. I just hope they carve off plenty of freebies for the forces. Heroes Concert tickets go on sale tomorrow through TicketMaster. I'll be snapping some up. source The Sun Last edited by Jackie; 03-08-10 at 12:03 AM. |
