Given all of the new names which have been flooding on to the forum lately, it seemed like a good time to introduce those people who might not be aware of its existence to RWFU, and remind everybody else that we're still here (sorry )The brainchild of a couple of VERY old Robbie fans , RWFU was originally set up by four of the fansites in 2008, before this forum was even here! It quickly became apparent however that the scope of support went far beyond those original four fansites, and these days, RWFU stands for Robbie Williams Fans United and is supported by fans from all over the world.RWFU was born in 2008 when that year's Soccer Aid was announced, as a way for Robbie's fans to come together under one umbrella and support UNICEF. We set up a page on JustGiving, which also allowed people to leave messages for Robbie, the charity, or anybody else they care to address, and set a target of £200. By the time the appeal closed, Robbie's fans had raised an incredible £1336. Which was nice! Since that initial appeal, we have gone on to host four more; in 2009, the British Heart Foundation received £450 in donations from Robbie's fans, Soccer Aid 2010 raised £680 for UNICEF and earlier this year a very last minute Comic Relief appeal raised £255. All of these appeals ran for definite periods, but there is one appeal that RWFU continues to support on a completely open ended basis. In 2009, The Donna Louise Trust celebrated its 10th birthday, and as this coincided with Robbie's return to the spotlight after 3 long years out, we decided to celebrate by opening an appeal for Treetops, the Stoke childrens' hospice of which Robbie is a patron. For a variety of reasons - not least because it attracted Robbie's attention and he blogged his thanks to the people who had donated - this appeal has touched a lot of hearts, and to date, Robbie's incredible fans have raised an amazing £3710. In total, adding together all of the appeals, and excluding Gift Aid, Robbie's fans have raised £5731 for charity so far. Think about that for a minute. £5731. WOW.... ![]() We don't do this for kudos, unless huge grins at the thought of those charities benefiting can be counted as kudos. We don't do it to grab Robbie's attention, although it's rather nice when he does notice, because donations tend to go up - we can't imagine why! In fact, all we do is set up the pages and then nag people incessantly. We've got good at that....If, as has been suggested, there is another Soccer Aid next year, there will be another appeal, but if as the man himself said just a couple of weeks ago you'd like to make his day, check out the Treetops appeal page here right now! So there you have it, really. RWFU in a nutshell; a brilliant example of what fan power can do at its very best. We do hope you will join in and be part of it too! Following on from the massive success of the appeals for Soccer Aid and the British Heart Foundation, RWFU is currently running perhaps its most important appeal of all, in support of Treetops.
The Donna Louise Trust is the only children's hospice service for Staffordshire and South Cheshire, providing respite and end of life care for children with life limiting conditions who are not expected to live beyond their teenage years. When Robbie made his public statement in support of the Donna Louise Trust back in February, RWFU discussed running the next appeal for them, so when Melanie Mills, head of fundraising and PR for the charity, approached us shortly afterwards and asked if we would consider helping, it seemed like a sign! With Robbie's fans celebrating the news of the release of the forthcoming album, and Treetops celebrating its tenth birthday this year, we are pleased and proud to have launched RWFU For Treetops which we really hope will knock the socks off of everything we've done before for at least 160 very good reasons.... Further details can be found here - but in the meantime - it wouldn't be an RWFU appeal without a video, or two! There must be millions of Robbie fans around the world - if we all donated just £2... Please, please do all you can Thank you! |

Wow, nearly 2000 members on here already! That's amazing! But then we always knew Robbie had the best fans
![]() Just musing out loud - if everybody had donated the minimum £2.00 as they joined, Treetops would have been £4000 better off in just 7 hours! |

Yeah Chrissie, only £2 would make all the difference. I hope a few more people who didn't know about the appeal bump the total up a bit now,
it's nice to see that there's a piece on the Donna Louise Trust here on the new site though |
