BEARD WATCH....

SO HERE'S WHERE IT'S AT...
THERE'S A HUGE ZIT RIGHT NEXT TO MY NOSE...SO THE FINGER'S THERE FOR VANITY

I HAVE NEW GREY STUFF..IT WASN'T THERE WHEN I LAST GREW ONE

I LOVED READING YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT ''FARRELL''
I'M VERY PROUD OF THE CLOBBER....

IT'S BASICALLY ALL MY FAVOURITE CLOTHES WITH A STOKIE TWIST

I'M INVOLVED WITH EVERYTHING...RIGHT DOWN TO THE BUTTONS,OFFICIALLY

CUT,CLOTH,COLOUR ETC…..I'M LEARNING A LOT .....

THE STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT IS OUR MOTIF ..FOR OBVIOUS REASONS...

LYRIC PROGRESS? I WROTE EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO FINISH…AREN'T I A GOOD BOY?
I KNOW I LIKE BLANKET STATEMENTS ABOUT MY MUSIC...BUT THIS ALBUM IS BY FAR MY MOST CONSISTENT
WE HAVE AN EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES WHERE SINGLES ARE CONCERNED ...HAPPY DAYS

IN OTHER NEWS....I WROTE OUT MY DREAM SETLIST FOR A FUTURE TOUR...
EXCITING..ME AND MY MONKEY HASN'T MADE IT I JUST DON'T THINK I CAN REMEMBER THE WORDS
SHOULD I RECONSIDER?

..JUST FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES (AMERICAN SAYING) SHOULD I PUT UP ALL THE OLD ALBUMS
AND YOU CAN PICK YOUR OWN SETLIST?

IN FACT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING  TO SEE WHAT SONGS OFF THE BEATEN TRACK YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR....OFFICIALLY

BETTY BEAR ..IS SETTLING IN WELL..THOUGH WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY UN-HOUSE-TRAINED HER
I JUST STEPPED IN PEEPEE...IN THE STUDIO...NICE.....

SHE FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE WE HAD CHANCE TO BOND WHILE AYDA WAS OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR A FEW DAYS...
AYDA'S  GUTTED....THOUGH I WILL SAY ALL THE OTHER DOGS BAR ONE FOLLOW HER AROUND LIKE SHE'S SNOW WHITE.

RIGHT FRIENDS

I'M OFF.....

How lovely to hear from you again :) You look great, never mind there's more grey in your beard now. How come men look sexy with greyish hair while women don't, it's unfair lol As for the setlist, I'd probably need to have a bit of a think first, but first that come to my mind (apart from the obvious classics): Bodies, A place to crash, Road to Mandalay, Monsoon and - I know it's a TT track, but if possible could you please, please consider Underground Machine. It was fantastic on the tour, LOVED it, one of my fave bits And btw, you are a good boy finishing off those lyrics, well done ;)

So i hope next time i will be the lucky one again!! And ohhhh btw...remove the beard pleeeeeaseeee..looks awful..sorry...lots of love from sunny and hot germany..

Ahaha Snow White! so you're becoming a bearded dwarf, right? ;) I think you'd be a great Happy ;D anyway, I would choose this setlist (not in a particular order): Karma killer (absolutely!!!) Monsoon Let me entertain you (best opening song ever) Come undone (my favourite) Sin sin sin I will talk and Hollywood will listen Make me pure (in an acapella version) Love somebody (in a strings+choir version....but I now that the lyrics are far "distant" from your situation now ;)) Hot fudge Win some lose some Starstruck A place to crash (love the Berling Velodrom version in 2005 ;D) The 80s Difficult for weirdos No regrets Strong Angels (I'd prefer other songs, but this is an anthem) Feel (" ") and maybe some more.... Anyway compliments for the Farrell project, I found an online catalogue of the collection and for the first time in my life I wish I were a man ahah ;D are you opening some shops anywhere? Much love, xoxo

rieb1's picture

WOW what a great idea!!!....how cool would it be stood at your next solo gig singing along to my favourite tunes, watching my favourite performer, and knowing that somewhere along the line, i had contributed to the picking of the set list for that gig!! BRILLIANT! no matter how small the contribution to it, us friendlies would have been involved...thats some good shit!! some kind of poll would be good, so we can vote on the songs you were maybe considering ? i would love to see the results, and compare the set list you had prepared and the list that us lot would choose im intrigued!!! for me personally you can lose me and my monkey, but its your call, dont dislike the song, theres just many more id rather listen to instead when theres limited songs to be sung!!.....love the pic by the way!

julie2010's picture

I think that you look fxxxing sexy all the time, no matter what your wearing, even with the beard honey! Is your next solo tour going to be next year, or year after? Cos i need to start saving for tickets, please? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope you're gonna choose at least a few from above :) Would really love ya to reconsider Me and my monkey, please Rob, even if you have to read the lyrics, that's fine as well :) I'm sure we're all going to sing along, you won't have to struggle with it, please!! Hope u like my picture, painted it myself at a Warhol workshop....

markuspongratz's picture

Hey Rob, creating a own setlist is not that easy as I thought. I tried to, but I am not sure if it would be fine for everyone. Are you planing some small gigs/promotion like Paris, Limelight etc in the near future? Monsoon (great opening song, isn’t it?) LMEY (too often the very first one but a must) Rock DJ (you know why – but you’re wrong…) Bodies (best of the new one’s) Misunderstood (for slowing down the show) Mr Bojangels (cause Max could join again on the piano) I will talk and Hollywood will listen (best swing song and never played on tour) Blasphemy (you’ve just done that one at Roundhouse, don’t like it?) Morning Sun (good one to end the slow part) No Regrets (for the TT fans, with changed lyrics) Me and my monkey (if you’re allowed to perform- of course do it!) Come undone (a masterpiece of music) Supreme (don’t understand why you hardly play it, one of the very best) Angels (hate it, but it’s mandatory for the girlies) Ghosts (good one for starting the extra part) Ego a go go (a very good old one) Back for good (RW edition as in some 2001 and 2003 shows) Advertising Space (one of the best parts of close-encounter-shows) Feel

marw's picture

Glad to hear that everything is fine;) "Farrell" stuff is really good!!! You should be proud! Speaking about the songs, I would love to hear the following ones live: Toxic, Dogs and birds, Last days of disco, Difficult for weirdos, Heart and I, Berliner star, By all means necessary, The Road to Mandalay, Please don't die, Bongo Bong, The actor, Never touch that switch, Love somebody and I think you should re-learn the lyrics for Me and my monkey (it's my mum's favourite song!:)) Sorry if the list is too long;) Take care and please get rid of this beard:)

Simone93's picture

As to the suitable setlist to take to your next concert I think you should include some rarieties, like Get a little high, or songs never performed before, like Singing for the Lonely, The Trouble with Me, A Place to Crash, Starstruck, Long Walk Home, which in my opinion are very good songs. I really do hope you can include in your setlist a song, which, if advertised better in the past, would recognise you like the best singer ever, again: Heart and I, according to me your best gig ever. Let Heart and I be in your setlist, do it, you won't repent of this choice ;)

Cath's picture

For shit and giggles... this has been hard work trying to narrow the list down.... SO MANY GREAT SONGS:0) but here i have a mix (most of which are already on repeat on my ipod!) Some slow some upbeat hope you like:0) (You may want to change the order around) Long walk home Singing for the lonely Love calling earth Hot fudge The 80's The 90's Better man Man machine Mr Bojangles Well did you evah Make me pure Me and my monkey RUDEBOX Burslem normals Spread your wings Clean Sexed up Don't stop talking Jesus in a camper van Phoenix from the flames Come undone Supreme Feel Rock DJ Something Beautiful Karma killer HEART AND I Blasphemy Starstruck Angels Let me entertain you COLLISION OF WORLDS List could of gone on and on and .......... I always liked the setlists of you concerts but a concert with some songs, we didn't hear much life yet would be awesome. My dream-setlist would be: A place to crash These Dreams Karma Killer (because of the great guitar in it) One fine day Berliner Star Radio Come Undone Better Man How Peculiar Ghosts Singing for the lonely Hot Fudge Cursed Feel Mr. Bojangles Let me entertain you It's only us Rock DJ Meet the Stars Tripping Heart and I Get a little High Supreme Angels Actually, I can't decide for an absolute version of my dream setlist. Melissa7110's picture

hi, I'm writing my own setlist... you've got so many beautiful songs that it isn't so easy : One of God's better people Better man Heaven from here Angels ( of course ) Make me pure Strong Come undone Singing for the lonely Supreme ( in French ) (for the French part of Belgium) Eternity Road to Mandalay (my husband really likes this song) and so on... hope you won't forget the little country in the north of Europe I mean Belgium... Everybody always forgets us for amazing concerts... I went to Amstertdam for the last tour with Take That. It was easy because I was on holiday... but if I wasn't, I would have been so disappointed... so please don't forget Belgium I'm sure you have huge fans here too... Melissa

Kim V Karla's picture

Although (having listened to it again) Rudebox seems a bit "trying to be an urban rapper" But Robbiekins, you dont need to be any other type of singer other than what you already are. Your own orignial style of singing/music... Go back to your default setting!

MariaRita84's picture

Hi Rob, "Vuoi cantare per noi?"...mmmm it's Fantastic!!!! My favourite songs for my setlist are: Hesrt and I You know me She's Madonna Lovelight Advertising Space Make me pure Misunderstood Radio Saxed Up Comeundone Feel Last days of disco Starstrcuk Difficult for weirdos The Actor Ghost Make me pure No regrets She's the One Eternity The road to Mandalay (my Mum is crazy for this song) Better man Me and my monkey I will talk and hollywood will listen Supreme Kids Angels Everything Changes. It's very difficult select any of your songs, becouse all are wonderful, but i've trired......Kisses...Maria Rita!!!!

Kim V Karla's picture

Hi Robbiekins Just had an additional thought...(Yep got lots of them all screaming to get out) You said in your blog that this album is by far the most consistent. But I hope that you havent altered your originality too much. Lots of singers churn out the same old stuff. In fact sometimes have difficulty guessing who sang what. But not you Rob. Alot of people said "Bodies and Rude box were way off the wall" But in fairness that what makes you unique. I hope you maintain your inspiring and catchy sound and still input your imaginative lyrics. Because at the end of the day "off the wall SELLS" Love and Hugs Kim

formJPeg's picture

Nice beard! My uncle looks similar to you now :D I'm really excited about Farrell! Hope to get something for myself :) As to the setlist I really liked a show you did in Abbey Road in 2003 a bit after Knebworth. Phoenix From The Flames, Singing For The Lonely, Heaven From Here <3 But if I had to choose a setlist out of all the albums and the way you perform some songs that I've seen live (Budapest 2006 just once unfortunately + DVD's) I'd say this: Ghosts Keep On Do You Mind? Sin Sin Sin Monsoon Come Undone Blasphemy Me And My Monkey (definitely reconsider! That's the first song my mum played to me after she'd seen you in Katowice in 2003) Supreme I Will Talk And Hollywood Will Listen One For My Baby Better Man Nan's Song Singing For The Lonely Hot Fudge Advertising Space Feel Eternity Phoenix From The Flames Heart And I Angels And if B-Sides are in as well then: One Fine Day(Pulled me through a lot) Chemical Devotion Get A Little High Appliance Of Science ("Don't believe in clever people, Clever people drop the bomb" amazing lyric! :D ) Back For Good(with the boys maybe?) Maybe a surprise cover? Like Wimmin', One, Beautiful Day, Rollin' in the past? Probably I got a bit carried away and put too many songs, but maybe this post will help or you'll give some songs a second glance :) All the best friend and congrats on the lyrics! Can't wait to hear them :D J.:);):D P.S. Could you pet Betty Bear form me? I really want to have a dog but can't just now...but someday definitely!

sball's picture

YES, reconsider - me and my monkey is AMAZING!!!!!!

(spoken like a proud Mum eh?)

Love to you and Ayda and the dogs of course xxx

Hello, Dear, Don't worry about the grey hair - You look very attractive anyway ;) Btw, my hairdresser said I also have some of it although I'm still very young - only 26 (it might be because of the disaster in Chernobyl and the radiation that leaked then as at that moment I was only 1 year old) Nevertheless, grey hair suits men a lot ;) Though I'm not very into the beard of Yours - You look better without it, Dear ;) And if talking about the tracks from Your previous albums that I would like to put in the setlist, I would first of all named the ones from ESCAPOLOGY, as this album is extremely important for me because after its release I fell for Your and for Your wonderful music :) INTENSIVE CARE and REALITY KILLED THE VIDEO STAR also contains some extremely good songs. And of course the swing album is very nice as well as I am very into such kind of music :) As well as the old good tunes of Yours. The list of my favourite tracks :) ........ One of Good's Better People Better Man Angels The Road to Mandalay Eternity Rock DJ Forever Texas I Will Talk and Hollywood Will Listen Mr. Bonjangles Beyond the Sea Feel Come Undone Something Beautiful Nan's Song Ghosts Tripping Make Me Pure Advertising Space Rudebox Lovelight Bodies You Know Me Morning Sun ........ Btw, only yesterday I came across the new song of Yours and TT "When We Were Young" for first time and I was literally blown away how incredible the song itself and the video was... You look extremely handsome there ;) I listened to that song something like 10 times before I went to sleep and in the morning it was the first thing that came into my head after I woke up. Hoping to hear some more beautiful tracks like this in the future ;) Take care of Yourself, Rob, and good luck ;) Love, Gytė
