Kasabian's Serge Rocks Up For Soccer Aid 2012

There are just over three weeks to go until Soccer Aid hits Old Trafford and there are still some huge names to be announced. The latest megastar to be confirmed Sergio Pizzorno from the mighty rock band, Kasabian.

Serge had originally dreamt of being a footballer when he was younger, but his plans soon changed when his careers adviser disagreed: "I told my careers adviser I wanted to be centre forward for Leicester City. When he said 'No' I thought I'd be in a rock 'n' roll band." It's time for him to swap his guitar for football boots and sell out arenas for the Theatre of Dreams to help raise money for UNICEF!

He joins the Rest of the World team, captained by Welsh actor Michael Sheen, alongside Will Ferrell, Gerard Butler, Mike Myers, James McAvoy, Patrick Kielty and Gordon Ramsay with ex Manchester United players Edwin van der Sar, Roy Keane, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam. The team will be managed by legendary Scot, Kenny Dalglish.

The formidable England team will be captained by Robbie Williams, with Jason Isaacs, Mark Owen, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold, Olly Murs, John Bishop, Jonathan Wilkes, Ben Shephard, Jamie Theakston and Paddy McGuinness. Football heroes Teddy Sheringham, David Seaman and Martin Keown will complete the squad. For the first time Bradley Walsh takes on the role as Coach with Jamie Redknapp assistant managing.

  • Rob! Let's make a duet with Serge before the Match!

  • So many unpleasant comments have been made in this blog lately, maybe we should blame the bad weather?
    Big hug ROB & Friendlies

  • Funny how you put yourself in the English team, when you live in plastic fanatic Hollywierd.

  • HOORAH! The LA Vale shirt raised a highly respectable £151 for UNICEF bringing the current total up to £403 with three weeks still to go until the match!

Golden Goal competition details coming up soon, and in the meantime, don't forget that every donation is eligible for an avatar designed exclusively for you.

    You're all brilliant. Thank you!

  • That's great catch, Rob. I'm like Kasabian

Calling all you amazing friendlies out there - it's now time to really show UNICEF and Rob what we can do to help such an amazing charity continue its work for children around the world.
I was so inspired to raise money in 2010 - it was such a great event – I have to give it a go again. So…
Whilst I can’t possibly match the likes of Dan Magness, I am going to do a 10 mile walk for UNICEF in a couple of weeks time (whilst listening to non-stop RW albums of course!) and I have challenged myself to a personal ‘keep it up’ - to say NO to chocolate, sweets & treats until I get to Old Trafford on match day (that's hard – believe me - real hard!!)
So, if you feel you can make a contribution, however big or small, to help Rob raise loads of money for Soccer Aid then please please go to my fundraising page at:
or login to www.btplc.com/mydonate and look for Amy No1 friend
I know everyone has a lot of demands on their budgets these days and I do realise it is hard to ask people you've never met to sponsor – took me bit of courage to write it on here - but we are all part of the friendlie gang and I really really hope you can find a little bit to help.
A big thankyou for reading this lovely people
    Amy No1 friend xx
P.S. And as a little ‘incentive’ to go & take a look, I’ve posted one of my amusing photos I took of Rob at Wembley on the Progess Tour – well, it makes me smile! Captions please ……..
