Robbie Re-Joins Take That

Take That logo
15 Jul 2010

After a 15-year wait and months of eager anticipation we can confirm that the rumours are indeed true: Robbie and Take That are back together and releasing an all-new album.

Following the reunion of all reunions in New York last September, Robbie, Gary, Howard, Jason and Mark have secretly recorded a full studio album with producer Stuart Price, which will be released later this year.

"I get embarrassingly excited when the five of us are in a room," said Robbie, who also duets with Gary Barlow on new solo single, Shame. "It feels like coming home."

Bandmate Mark Owen added, "Getting the five of us to be in a room together, although always a dream, never actually seemed like becoming a reality. Now the reality of the five of us making a record together feels like a dream. It’s been an absolute delight spending time with Rob again. But I’m still a better footballer."

And what does Jason Orange think about Robbie's re-joining the boys? "Flippin’ brilliant, absolutely brilliant," he said. "I’m over the moon that Robbie’s back with us, however long it lasts. I just want to enjoy our time with him. Life is beautifully strange sometimes."

Between them, the five-piece have have sold 80 million albums, performed to over 14.5 million people live, won 19 BRIT Awards, had 13 number one albums, 17 number one singles, eight MTV awards and five Ivor Novello awards!

Take That's forthcoming album, which is currently untitled, will be released in November 2010, a massive twenty years since the band first performed live together in 1990. Wow!

When I've read the new I was very angry, sad and disappointed... and I started to cry... I lost my singer... Sorry but I think the same of Christina1991:" take that just using you, rob" ... Anyway I love you and this never change... I' ll try to support you and I'll try to be happy for you... but it is not easy... sorry, I can't become a take that's fan, I'll never stop hating them... ..sorry for my bad bad bad english...

Hi Rob, congratulations for your return. I'm sure you're happy, you can see in his face. But I believe that everything is fleeting, like back to the "TAKE THAT," you needed it for self-assertion. I cheer a lot for you, with love Chris.

I think it's great news, I'm very happy!!! Many of us waited for years for this moment, many of us are fans since the early Take That days. So, for the people who doesn't like it: give it a change, maybe you get blown away by the new Take That album! The Take That albums with the four boys were very good and it can only get better when Robbie's involved!

i think it is amazing Rob is finally doing some work with his former band mates and am excited to see what they come up with!! However, i do hope this is not the end Robbie's solo career and that there will be more to come.

I'm sorry but I don't like it at all¡¡¡¡I'm only wondering why...

Tinee's picture

I hope you will still have your own concerts, because I haven't seen you preforming live and I want to experience that . Ps: I think that you are better without them, but anyway it will be interesting to see you with boys.

If you were all true Robbie fans you would be really happy for him, it has taken a lot for Robbie to make amends with the boys "No Regrets" springs to mind, I have seen Take That when Robbie was still with them, Robbie solo & Take That as a foursome & they are all awesome, so please don't lay the guilt trip on him!

Sorry...............................but i cant get my head round this one....a one of single with take that but to rejoin the group sounds like you have given up on your successful solo career....as many others i am a robbie fan not a take that fan...........i have been to all ur solo gigs and would continue to go to your solo tours but cant see myself buying a ticket for a TT gig.....sad sad news but the main thing is as long as u r happy robbie but your fans are allowed their opinion and im most disappointed xx

I am asking myself the same question all day long: WHY?? Rob, you are so much better on your own.... I am really sad... :(

This is a non-sense news....:@... fuckin' disappointed....

I want to be happy for you Rob but its hard! You look uncomfortable again with them! Glad that you are all friends again but you don't NEED them YOU proved that in your SOLO career. I am interested to see how you all are on stage (worried it will look 'staged')! When you have all this out of your system PLEASE come back to your real loyal fans - who knew you needed to break free from them the 1st time! Will you never learn - we love you for YOUR songs not harmonies in a group! Bring back songs like rock dj, feel etc... BRING BACK ROBBIE. XXXXX

I think it's great the boys are back together - I can't WAIT for the albums - too in one go! One request though ... look after each other this time and Rob learn your lessons and don't regress. You know what I mean! Also PLEASE can you come to YORKSHIRE on tour ... and PLEASE say hi to the POSH SEATS (so posh we bring our own chairs!) If you are ever in Leeds pop in for a CUPPA!

I signed our fan-pop star divorce when I read the news maybe we can get back together when you release a new album or go on a tour by yourself just to see if you did not get all lame and corny but still enjoying RKTVS That's all you left us with =(

Members have left groups over the years, gone solo, re-joined their original group .. its all just part and parcel of being in the music industry. Its happened countless times ! I think if you are a fan of Robbie Williams you should support him in all his endeavours ..it will be interesting to see if he takes lead vocal on a TT track .. to watch him perform with his bandmates. And he has said that he will continue with his solo career after the Take That album !! There is so much to look forward to ! Im happy about Robbie rejoining. Ive waited 15 years for this. He has rightfully taken back his place in Take That. Ive always supported Take That, Robbie as a solo artist, Mark as a solo artist and Gary and took an interest in what Jason and Howard were up to over the years. I believe too it was Robbies solo success which paved the way for the successful Take That comeback. He kept their memory alive whilst also carving out one of the most impressive solo careers to date. Well done to you Rob, well done Gary, Mark, Jason, & Howard .. I wish you all the best and long may your solo career live on Rob !! I wish you all the happiness in the world !! xx

Alex Moreira's picture

How disappointing. But well, I support you Robbie, whatever you decide to do! Good luck, good work, adn please, come back to us soon!

kelsy's picture

I don t like it all, you left Take that, we all understand why you did it and we supported you with your solo career. And now you go back. The time of take that is over this is for 15 year old girls. And all your fans they followed you from than on are much older than that. You know you re a much better singer than them. But if you want to waist your talent than its your choice. But i m not gone be a take that fan again because you join them. You lose a fan if you are going trough with this and there are gone be many more. And than sitting on the picture next to Gary Barlow laughing with it, It's one big joke.

@ miffybell __ I couldn't agree more

Right now I feel as I'm 13 again.... It made soooo sad when Robbie left Take That... And I just think that due to the way the band ended, they owed to themselves a new chance. I don't think it'll last forever... it's just like saying "we can work together, after all that happened". I'm sooooo happy they're working together again!!! Especially if that means more Robbie's stuff!! Love xxx

miffybell's picture

Thankyou Miss Pink. . omg have you seen the facebook page. . . so sad, they are so mean. I know its going to be kinda weird for boths sides of the TT fans but seriously IM kinda excited to see how the NEW TT sound is going to be. they are all on the same level. they are not relying on Gary to find the lyrics or music.

dorisj5's picture

I'm happy for him,old time friends should be together, and such beautifull and smart wife -to be,everything on right place for Robbie now.Congratulations

I don't know what to think about the news, after all I wasnt even 1 when Robbie left take that. I hope he continues with his solo career as that his how I know him, not from take that. He is such an amazing solo artist and i'm sure he'll put is own twist on the album and tour. I just pray this isn't the end of Robbie Williams as I know him. But whatever I'll still continue to support him!!

marilyne's picture

I very embarassing because I ever hate boys band (all of boys band) but I think that today mister Robbie and his friends (that I don't know) are all men and I hope their album will be great (not just for very young excited ladies)! I'm also a little disapointing because I'd prefered that mister Robbie spend his time to make a great world tour in solo! But I respect his choice and I will listen this album with a lot of curiosity for the melodies and the lirycs. Good job men!
