Working With Trevor Horn
Hey,
You may have heard that I'm in the studio with the genius Trevor Horn.
Google him if you don't know who he is...he's absolutely amazing. At this point in proceedings (which is still early doors) I've got to say I've never felt as positive about any record I've done before. Everything is shaping up so fast.
It sounds ''Big''....Very.....I am quietly confident....infact we're F(C.ing buzzing....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So then.....It's a come back record?......No it isn't..
It's the next record after the last one...but alas...it looks like I'll have to follow the script that has been written for me in
my absence.
You go off... you fall in love...you like it...you want to be around that person all the time.
I used to say I'm only going out to find someone to stay in with, well I found her.....that's where I've been.
I'm coming into my 20th year in the business, I was fortunate enough to get in really early
I was 16 when Take That started.
People normally don't hit it that young....so if you look at it in Fame/Dog years
I'm well into my 40s......I found taking time out and re-assesing my life to be a completley
natural step.
Am I hermit? Well......
If you find a way of not getting papped...they think you've died which is exactly what my friend was asked outside my house in LA one day.
'Excuse me we're from the ''fill in the tabloid blank'' would you be able to tell me anything about the rumours that Robbie Williams is dead?'' As you can imagine that was quite a weird hour or so.
It's quite simple really...If you don't go out in Hollywood you are not going to be seen and seeing as the only reason to go there was
to find a partner. Now I've got one...why would I go into Hollywood?
The trick is to go out in the Valley, that's if you want to go incognito, the other side of the big hill, celebs wouldnt really be seen dead there....hey presto no pap.. so that's were I go...or went.
I thought after the last album came out....things seem to be on the turn...perception wise....so I decided to try and stay out of the proverbial ''lime light'' for a while....and god knows I've found the old big head routine to be running a bit thin so I don't blame anybody else feeling the same way.
As an old manager used to say to me ''you lads need to go away and cause a vacuum''' I've been vacuuming......and as it coincided with me finding someone very special. I haven't minded being in the middle of that Hoover fest.
It's given me the chance to write and write and write...and I've loved it. We've got well over 50 songs and another 20/30 ideas..It's proving to be very difficult whittling them down to 12/14 for the album...nice problem to have though...everything sounds like a single.
I looked for something else to do, something not to do with music as you probably now know I've always been fascinated with the paranormal (and the people that surround it) still am so I tried to make some in roads and thought I'd maybe do a tv show with a paranormal theme....something like the Arthur C Clark shows that I loved as a kid (Arthur C Clark backed with Tales of the Unexpected can really make for a terrifying sunday when you're 8).That's what the UFO thing was all about.....but that's been shelved for the time being.....
on the grounds of I couldn't really be arsed.....
OH, I also found out that you're not supposed to grow a beard as well...even though it's what happens if you stop shaving and you just want to see what you look like with one.
I remember seeing a bearded Paul McCartney .....this was just after the Beatles. He looked really cool....and I fancied it......nothing more nothing less...I loved the beard...wish I'd have kept it for a bit longer
