Swing When You're Winning Sleeve Shoot
Renowned British pop artist Peter Blake was originally commissioned to paint the Swing When You're Winning album cover, but, in Robbie's own words, "it's an amazing painting, it was beautiful, but it somehow just wasn't right."
Instead, images from a photo shoot at Capitol Records in Hollywood, California - the home of legendary stars including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole - were selected. "We wanted to capture the environment and the mood of a Frank Sinatra photo shoot… we tried to make it as Frank as possible," Robbie explains.
You may also notice a go-faster streak of blonde hair running through Robbie's hair in some of these photos. That's because away from his Swing-inspired sleeve shoot, Robbie was sporting a not-so-1930s bleached mohican at the time, which was slicked down for the shoot to get that true Sinatra look.
